Hi, I am Jennifer. I want to lose apx 50 pounds. My first goal is the 30 pounds I have gained since I began taking anti-depressants 18 months ago. I need all the encouragement I can get. :0) Dont we all though.

I am thinking of trying Atkins but I have no idea how that would really work for me. I do not eat eggs, seafood or a ton of meat. Food with a lot of fat content makes me ill. I have cut way down on my carb and sugar intake but have not lost any weight.

I joined the south beach diet online to look around and canceled during the trial period. The web format was just not for me. I also did not like how youc ould not customizie your meal plans for your likes and dislikes. I think I may get the book. Does anyone here have it and what do you think?

Next week I am joining a water arobeics class. On Monday and friday I hope to go in the am and tues, wed and thurs go in the afternoon after work. Finally someplce that is reasonable and has free child care during class.

Looking forward to your advice.

Thanks,
Jennifer

Welcome to WISH, torismom. I'm so glad you found us. I cannot advise you about the South Beach Diet but it is similar to Atkins, at least for the first two weeks. I'm sure some of our WISHers will have some information about the plan to share with you.

WISH is a terrific place to find encouragement, information and friendship, regardless of what plan you follow. We have WISHers who follow just about every eating plan ever devised and they are always ready to help other WISHers.

I hope you will stay with us. Will you be taking the challenge? Please say yes. I would love to have you in my support group.

The little bit we have looked at south beach..it had too many carbs for us...we do Atkins. If you don't eat meat/fish/eggs...it may be a little tough for you to do a low carb eating plan.

Don't forget to check out curves for woman or LA weight loss.

The curves for woman book/plan can be found at sams club.

The south beach book in any book store and sams club and the Atkins three pack book at sams for about $27...everything you need to get started. You can do the atkins journal of your progress online for free.

Hi!

I don't know much about either diet you mentioned, but I wanted to wish you luck and offer support!!!

I joined LA Weight Loss near me (in NJ) and it's low carb. It's tough, but I'm sticking to it!

You can do it!!! Lots of luck to you!!!

Welcome to WISH. I can't give you any Atkins or Soutbeach advice, because I do WW's. This is a great place to get the inspiration and needed encouragement to loose weight! Everyone here is the best!!!

Welcome to WISH. I don't know anythong about Atkins, Southbeach, or WW's. I devised my own eating plan. I am basically making healthier choices. I know what type of food is OK for me to eat and and which types of food I should be leaving well alone. I am also doing aerobics and plenty of walking. I can't tell you how much weight I have lost from doing this as I only started 2nd Aug. and I am only weighing myself once a month. But my clothes are fitting a lot better.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Welcome to WISH. We are all here for each other on good days and bad... Once you've done some looking around at different plans I'm sure you'll find fellow WISHers who are following the same plan you are!

The plan that works the best for me is the one that I can live for a lifetime. After you lose, you just add a few treats and extra around the edge, but stay with the same eating plan that helped you lose weight.

I'm not a big meat eater either, but I find that protein really perks me up and gives me a lot more energy than carbs do. It may be boring, but I can eat grilled chicken every day because I like it and I know that it gives me energy when I get sluggish. See if you can find just a few meat (or protein) types that you can tolerate well and just stick with them! How 'bout low fat or nonfat cottage cheese. Great protein source!

You don't have to be creative if you don't want to. Remember, one thing we also need to do is take the importance off of food that we've connected to it, and find importance in other aspects of our lives. Like getting healthy, exercising, keeping personal relationships strong. So what if you eat the same thing four or five times in a week! Does anyone really care and is really that important anymore?

Best of luck finding a plan that suits you and helps you be successful!
