Hi... My family & I will be going on our first trip to Disney in June. The kids don't know yet (we're ho ping to surprise them).

We'll be staying at the Pop Century Resort and taking advantage of the meal plan. We opted NOT to get the park hopper tickets (I think that could be too much traveling for the kids).

Any suggestions & adive is greatly appreciated!

This will be MY first time going too....

Welcome and congrats on your first trip to Disney. How old are the kids?? If you go to the creative boards site you can shirts made up for them and tell them about the trip that way! :) Your going to have such a great time! :)

Oooh.. That's a GREAT idea! My DS is turning 6 tomorrow and my DD will be 8 in July. My DD has an idea that we're going, but she hasn't mentioned it lately. The reason we're not telling them yet is because we don't want to hear 'Are we going to Disney TODAY' every day until June 11th.

Your first WDW trip! Oh, the excitement that builds, the anticipation, the dreams, the magic and then there's the kids excitement! They will be so excited to be at WDW that nothing else will matter. Sit back, enjoy, and don't try to cram everything into the first visit. That's what makes the following trips so exciting - things you saw that couldn't do because of time, kids ages, didn't know about, etc. and the next trip will be just as exciting as the first because you know what you liked before and then there are the new things you want to try. So have a very magical trip and remember the look of pure joy on everyone's face when you get there!

Welcome!!!

Have a wonderful time here -- there's lots to see and do!

And have an even BETTER time at Disney! Way more to see and do.

Surprises are fun ... whenever they come! Even if you spill the beans before you leave, it'll still be a surprise at that moment. :goodvibes

Welcome and have lots of fun on your disney trip :thumbsup2

Have a disney day

Welcome to the DIS! Hopefully you won't tell your kids beforehand, & I know it's gonna be a great surprise! :goodvibes

Welcome and be forwarned .

Now after you get back all you will here is

WHEN WE GOING TO DISNEY AGAIN.

We are going in June too!
I made a paper chain with Disney characters on each link and my son pulls off one each night. If I didn't have that chain, I would be getting "MOMMM. when are we going??" every minute of every day!
Enjoy your trip! There is nothing like it. I swear if I could live in Cinderella's castle, I would!!! :rotfl:

Our first trip to WDW we didn't make table service reservations ahead of time. That was a big mistake. We ended up eating counter service every day and standing in long lines.

We get to the parks before they open, enjoy the relatively short lines in the am, have lunch and take kids back to hotel for rest & swimming at around 1pm when parks start getting crowded. We have late dinner reservations 8-9 pm and come back to parks at that time, enjoy our dinner, fireworks and a few rides later at night when it's not as crowded.

Also we never do theme parks 2 days in a row. We always throw in a water park day or hang out at the hotel, relax & swim day in between parks. It can make a big difference between a relaxing vacation and having Magical Meltdowns in the parks because everyone is so tired. We think the waterparks are better than the theme parks, relaxing and cool!

We learned the hard way, you can't do it all. So relax, enjoy and plan on coming back next year, the year after, and so on, and so on...

Enjoy your trip!!! :cool1:

I second all the thoughts of taking it easy. You get there and you want to do everything! It can be overwhelming. Early mornings, calm afternoons by the pool, back at night is a great way to handle the stress you can put yourself under if you rush to do everything.

YOUR GOING TO LOVE IT!!!! :Pinkbounc

I may get flamed :furious: for this but I think your kids are the perfect age for a first disney trip. Enjoy and don't try to see and do everything. Remember it's a vacation, RELAX and HAVE FUN! :cheer2:  :yay:

COLOR=Green]WELCOME TO DIS... HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HAVE A GREAT TIME AT DISNEY!! :wizard: [/COLOR]

Welcome to the DIS boards and to Disney. I am so excited for you and your kids! pixiedust: Though I'm not new to Disney (40 or 50 trips to CA Disneyland), I am new to FL Disney and even I am so excited. You are going to have a great time and your kids are going to be thrilled. It will be truly magical. I agree with the PP who said they are the perfect age for a first trip. All the best to you. Give us a trip report when you get back! I'd love to hear about your kids' reactions.

Welcome to the Dis!!! Have a great vacation.

Welcome to the DISboards. Believe me you have come to the best place for advice and suggestions. People here have plenty of both. :rotfl2:

I have been to Disney quite a few times and every time I walk into the Magic Kingdom, I get very emotional. So, have fun with all your planning. You have definitely come to the right place.

Your post made me think back to the first time I made it to the World with our teenage daughters and never-got-to-do-anything-fun-when-I-was-a-kid dh. WOW! We were awestruck with perpetual smiles the entire week. (I wish it were me going again for the first time! ) I hope your experience will be similar. There's just nothing like it on earth and your children will thank you for years to come! Have a really wonderful vacation! :woohoo: :cheer2:
