New here... a couple of questions

I heard about this board when some friends were planning trips to WDW. At the time I didn't think much of it but now that I've got a trip to DL in the works this has been a great resource!

We're planning on going the middle of October this year (with 2 dds, 5 and 10). Neither dd know yet, they both have bdays later this summer so we're planning on letting them know then. We've got enough miles on Alaska Air for 4 free tickets (yeah! Since we're on a budget). We were there about 7 years ago when dd1 was only 3 and stayed at the Best Western, right across from the entrance. We want to stay in that location again (not necessarily the BW).

Now my questions...

I was wondering how do you go about getting the best hotel discounts?

When does the 50th Anniversary end?

We are also planning on spending a day at SeaWorld, any suggestions on hotels near there?

The 50th is ending the end of Sept. Oct 1, the new "year of a million dreams" kicks off.

For hotels you might try www.getawaytoday.com They typically have good prices. You can also try the standard- expedia, travelocity, etc. Entertainment book members sometimes get good rates.

Personally, I recomend the Candy Cane Inn. Its a short walk, but has a shuttle if you dont want to walk, and includes breakfast. You have to book directly with them- www.candycaneinn.net They dont work with any book agents other then Disney travel/ AAA. If you need parkhopper passes you might check with Disney or AAA for a package deal. It will include a few little perks that are always fun / nice to have.
