He will be truning 10 when we go. So what I was wondering is what resturants would be good for a 10 y/o boy who really is not all that into Disney.

Is there like a dinner with say the bad guys of Disney or something kind of Boyish?

It's not our favorite, but the Sci Fi Dine-in Theatre at MGM might be perfect. No characters (since he's not all that into Disney), but you sit in actual cars and watch old clips of corny sci-fi movies on a giant movie screen - like you were in a drive-in. Food isn't great (mainly burgers, sandwiches, and the like), but the atmosphere is fun. I haven't heard any kid say they didn't like it. It's a little pricey for what it is, so you may want to try it for lunch.

We have booked the Garden Grill for our DS's 9th b-day at the end of the month. I chose the GG b/c it is really good american food, the whole family likes it there, and there are only a few charactors. It is located in the Land Pavillion, Epcot.:sunny:

I was just going to suggest the Garden Grill too :D

My brother had one of his best birthdays there when we were younger. He wasn't into the characters at the time but Chip and Dale were hilarious that night! He couldn't help but get caught up in the fun. They even brought out a cake for him and a certificate signed by the characters. He kept the certificate and we still talk about that birthday meal.

I hope you have a great time :Pinkbounc

so where is the Garden Grill and what type of food do they have? And they will do something Sp for his B-day?

My DS chose the Sci-Fi for his 9th birthday this past May. He loved it!! Sitting in the car was very cool. Our waiter gave him a 'drivers license" to keep. After dinner, they presented him with a very large and messy sundae with a candle in it. Our waiter also gave him a cordless phone to listen to...it was a birthday wish from Goofy!

We didn't think the food was that bad. After reading many reviews regarding the quality of the food, we prepared ourselves for the worst. Honestly, the food wasn't terrible. It's not gourmet, but it is certainly edible!! My dh had a rueben (huge!), I had a chicken sandwich,and my boys both had burgers and milkshakes (the milkshakes are incredible!!! they ordered a cookies and cream shake, and split it. Next time they each want their own! LOL)

I would offer your DS a list of options and let him choose. I did that for my son, and he was really stoked about going to the sci-fi while planning our trip!!!

do they let you DTD restaurants? At 10 my DS's answer would have been "anywhere near DisneyQuest"!

as another thought, my kids love the fish at Coral Reef;
if you're on the Gold Plan you won't choke on the prices

The California Grill is very special and would allow the firework viewing
