New Grand Californian Gate?

I keep hearing mention of a new gate at the Grand Californian. Does someone have any pictures of it? Does that mean we can no longer do our parking and then walk over to the grand californian? Do we need to check in first to have some sort of key to get in the gate just walking?

I saw a picture on another thread (sorry, can't remember the name). It has a key card slot and a speaker. I assume if you haven't gotten your key card you push the button and someone on the other end checks a list to confirm your reservation, then buzzes you though.

In your situation, I think I'd drive to the porte cochere, unload and then either check in and then move the car once you have a keycard or have one person drive the car to park it whilst the other checks in then meet at the gate with a keycard to let the other in.

They have a little parking lot near vallet for when you are checking in, just let them know you are checking in and doing self psrking, then they will either direct you to leave your car where it is or to park it in the small lot and check in, then park the car.

Most of the GCH self parking lot is now blocked for construction, so guests will park in the garage behind PPH (or some other lot).
