It's not exactly bogus. Its an acrylic ball and the commercial shows people using it to contact juggle. The 'bogus' part is that the more experienced jugglers are the ones doing the tricky stuff which takes awhile to master.
I bought it for myself because after reading about contact juggling, its something I'd like to try and the fushigi is cheaper than buying an acrylic ball and an instructional dvd separately.
DH got one from my brother for Christmas, we'd never even heard of it and it's already in the GoodWill bag. Is it something I should 'rescue' and try to figure out?
My DS10 asked for one for Christmas after seeing the commercials. I looked it up and found MANY reviews that people said they were very disappointed -- "it's just a ball" and it took many many hours of practice to be able to do what they do on the commercials.

I'd look up videos of contact juggling and see if its interesting to you. If it is, hold onto it, if not - donate it. Its just like the old magic trick commercials - they look easy, but it takes a lot of practice to master sleight of hand maneuvers.
As with anything, it takes a lot of practice to do most of the moves, but I find it a lot simpler to work on than traditional juggling.
My DD9 wanted it for christmas so my parents did get it for her. She has so many other toys to play with that we haven't had time to watch the video and try it yet.
This was at the top of my dd8s list after reading the reviews on amazon I did not get it for her looks like she is too young and she does not have the time to practice this a few hours a day nor would she want to it was nixed very quickly
