New "Frozen Fun" even in DCA

Dance parties have to change to keep them fresh. Mad T is probably at that phase. Shoot, it lasted longer than elecTRONica. I bet a Frozen party will attract a lot of biz, and not just kids. Disney can attract that tween group with the right mix of pop and Frozen stuff.

As for people wanting to "vomit" and hating on all things Frozen, give me a break. It's a phenomenon. It's bigger than Beauty& The Beast, bigger than Stitch, bigger than Cinderella. If anything, Disney needs more Frozen stuff to hit the pressure release valve on the meet and greet over at the DL park. If you don't "get it", then I don't know what else to say.

I don't think Disney has hit the point of "too much" yet - sorry for those "frozen-ed out". Over at WDW, the "Frozen-ification" of Cinderella's castle lighting has turned a quiet, sparsely attended little ceremony at dusk into Frozen-fueled madness. I had really wanted to watch the Castle lighting show and now it sounds like it may be incredibly difficult to get a good spot to watch it. Even repeating it twice a day is not enough to satisfy the public demand. The reports I am hearing is that it is absolute, complete madness there.

My little 4 yr old niece is going to WDW next spring and when I asked her last night what she was most excited about - she said she wanted to meet A&E. She has tons of Frozen merchandise and loves them all.

From a personal perspective, my (older) kids also like Frozen and if it is scheduled, we'll be part of the crowds when we visit DLR next summer.

I clearly need to improve my emoticons game.

All I can say is that with 3yo and 9yo daughters, the whole park could be Frozen and they wouldn't have enough. They even drug me back to a second hourlong waiting for WOC so they could see Olaf and Elsa again. It is the Opium of girls everywhere, and I don't mind the taste myself.

I'm glad your girls have the Disney love no matter what. That's cool. And I know as a parent if it's bringing your babies joy there's nothing better. Definitely.

He bought annual passes because he likes the DCA night time party type events (Mad T party and ElecTRONica). He hates Frozen, and no way is he going to hang out in that area anymore and spend money on drinks if there is even one Frozen song playing. And if he's not popping into DCA for a few hours for the Mad T Party, he's definately not stopping at any of the restaurants or snack carts in DCA either.

I get it, mostly little girls and women like Frozen, but I don't personally know any men (or even little boys!) who find Frozen appealing at all (much less want to spend any money on it or waste time on a meet and greet for it).

Our family as a whole is not that into it. Even our 8 year old likes the songs but she is definitely not obsessed with it. Perhaps its because she came late to the party only finally seeing it on video so was not drawn into the hype/ Sad to hear they will be putting it in, as it will destroy the tranquility DCA can have at times for a Frozen Madhouse.

Eh, I'm planning some stops at other lounges during our trip in January. I'm kinda sorry I didn't take the time to see Mad T last spring but such is life. Typically when I see/hear anything Frozen I'm marching the other direction, too. It's okay. None of the crazes lasts forever.

You do realize that the Mad T Party isn't exactly what I would call your traditional dance party?

I never attended Electronica. But the big thing of T was the live band playing. No one can really see this happening at a Frozen event, and that's what most of the fans are going on about. Dancing to the band playing... no chance, too crowded. Granted there's people who've been standing there way more often that me. So maybe there was a time when you could. All I can say is that people trying to do the Time Warp along with them during the Halloween sets were pretty much falling over each other. LOL

I'm guessing grown men were not Disney's target audience with Frozen. That said, I'm a grown man, and I thought it was a great Disney movie.

Regarding your hubby....did he really buy APs just because of Mad T? He won't step foot in DCA without it? If I were gonna shell out AP money, I'd have to like a lot more than just one night time event.

lol. Ya I have a son he likes it but not like some of the girls. I however love it I bought a blanket and the toy set (goes next to my brave set and my little pony sets) , dvd, cd, and have the frozen Elsa sleepy pants on the way. So I have defiantly been the one buying the stuff.

Since I'm the one who mentioned the auditions, and I saw the audition information last month (and mentioned it in my Christmas/Holiday Superthread on October 22nd), I will clarify.

The musicians who were being auditioned were: guitar, lute, tuba and violin players.

The description of what was needed said:

"...seeking skillful, singing musicians to playfully present songs to Disney California Adventure Park® guests within an indoor, storytelling setting. Open positions are for live performances with a wandering comic group of troubadours who celebrate stories and characters through music and song."

Also, it said:

"...knowledge of Scandinavian-style folk music is a plus."

Well, all this proves that Frozen is pulling in the crowds and Disney will be smart to give the people what they want (even if a vocal subgroup is not impressed with it). I'm sure it will slowly fade away as the madness starts to die down. There is still a lot of pent up demand that will keep it going for a while yet though.

You never know! Stranger things have happened! I think that they may fit right in with the "wandering comic group of troubadours who celebrate stories and characters through music and song," though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't there storyteller-type musician folks at the Frozen sing-along at DHS? So I guess the "indoor, storytelling setting" in DCA would be the Muppets' theater and not the Animation Building.

I was the one in our family who got into Frozen first, and then introduced it to my wife and older daughter (the baby just likes whatever you show her). I am certainly going to spend a great deal of time in Frozen attractions and M&Gs on our big family holiday next year to WDW and DLR, and I'm not sure it'll be driven by my daughters or my wife!

Of course it helps that I'm a musicals junkie and Bobby Lopez is probably my favourite musical composer right now (Avenue Q is my all-time favourite musical)
