New "Frozen Fun" even in DCA

Hahahaha, I was just posting about this on the Christmas thread, glad you found the source...I only had an Instagram picture.

I'm going to wait for the official Blog or Press Release from Disney. This site that reported it as "confirmed" is not a Disney site, and they are merely reporting on details that were leaked (just as MiceAge does).

I mean, I don't doubt for a second that all of that Frozen stuff will be making its way to Hollywood Land, but until it comes from Disney first-hand, in print or in some form of media, I don't consider it official. Some of the details could change before it is announced.

Even though it's not "official" yet, has anyone heard how long the Frozen Fun will last? Possibly through the summer?

We may be in the minority, but my kids love Frozen and we hope it will still be there in August. The singalong at DHS was so much fun! I'd be happy to participate again :)

The current rumor is May.

"Official" is an important thing. It has to come directly from Disney to the public to be official and definitely on track to happen, and details could change by the time it does come from them. Things that are discussed in boardrooms or behind the scenes at creative meetings (which may leak out) may never see the light of day -- but if Disney actually writes a blog or press release about it then it's happening.

The rumors have been swirling about for quite a while now (months). We've tracked it, discussed it and analyzed any "clues" pointing to rumor validity in the Christmas/Holiday Season Superthread for as long as the rumor has been out there, and as certain details started to fall into place it became more apparent that the Frozen stuff would happen in some way or another, though maybe not exactly as first outlined.

MiceAge started the rumors and wrote about them, and MiceAge has often proven to provide info about events or developments that don't happen. For a while, all was quiet on the Frozen front in that Disney didn't do any Parks Blogs about it, nor did they mention it in press releases. We began to think that maybe it wasn't happening after all -- but auditions were held for musicians with a preferable knowledge of the Scandinavian folk-style of music, to perform in DCA in a storytelling environment, and that seemed to be a dead giveaway!

MiceAge claimed that the plan was to run the Frozen mini-land of Hollywood Land until early May, ending it before the DL 60th anniversary events take place.

MiceAge also reported that all of the Frozen shenanigans would begin on December 20th this year -- just in time for the super busy Christmas and New Year's weeks. (I would guess that there would have to be a media day of sorts on 12/19 or 12/18.) Supposedly the idea was to do it at this time so Disney could still package it as a "holiday offering," but timing it so that all APs except the Premium level would be blocked out, and also to bring in extra people to the parks during the off season (before and after Spring Break and before Summer). Then the AP holders could return to DLR after the holidays were over and their block out dates lifted, and see the Frozen madness after everyone else had seen it.

But again, until it is officially released/announced/publicized by Disney -- which could be as soon as the next day or two -- anything could change, get added in to the plan, get removed, etc.

Pardon me while I go vomit.

Mind sharing your bucket?

Sorry, but as I've said elsewhere we've really come to the point where I personally have had it with Frozen.

I got a response to my email comments about the Mad T Party closing last night - while it doesn't verbally confirm the above article the wording of the email leads me to believe that the wdwnt post is correct.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong: I am very glad that it seems *something* will still be happening in DCA at night. Hopefully that also means cast and crew who worked at the Mad T Party won't get their hours cut too badly. Way too many things have been going away forever lately. It just personally annoys me that there seems to be only two options Disney wide right now: either something is going away forever or it's "frozen-ed".

I'm a pin trader. Paris has a Christmas themed pin event next month. The theme they announced in October? "Let it snow." Frozen graphics all over the poster. A very kind and gentle friend of mine who I never heard uttering one swear word since I know him broke out into a rant of <edited> that would have made any sailor blush. Boyfriend and I decided we had to try and get tickets for the sake of our pin collecting friends in the US. Two of them even told us not to try because helping them was not worth our sanity.

25 minutes and 7 people calling later (I was on four phones simultaneously) we were in. Two calls out of over 30 got through.

Resellers struck like crazy. We knew it would be bad, but this was worse than in my wildest fears. One pin set presold for $ 1,200 on ebay. Gone are our nice relaxing Christmas meets with our pin friends because of... Frozen.

I respect it's a huge money maker for Disney. But the craziness is getting out of hand.

I threw away my Blu Ray DVD combo when I came across it yesterday. That would qualify as letting go....but without that screeching, over-singing. Snowman? We don't get that white stuff that falls from the sky. Perhaps a snowball from the snowball machine since we are likely to get up to about 80F today. Thanks for the suggestion! ;)

Disney is trying to cope with the runaway success of Frozen, but they're making the same mistake they made with Lilo and Stitch. They're over saturating the market. You'd think they'd have learned, but I'm sure there's the equivalent of Stitch's Great Escape coming, the terrible straw that breaks the camel's back...

My family has a huge case of Frozen burn out. I am having a hard time finding any non Frozen related new clothing for Christmas gifts/January trip.

I was at a local hobby store yesterday. Mom and Pop place full of train sets and models. One fourth of the store had been cleared and stuff with Frozen merch. Who would ever think to come there to buy the stuff in the first place. Owner told me that he made a big mistake and he has yet to sell a single thing. There is going to be nothing but Frozen merchandise during the after Christmas clearance!

I am in the "totally sick of Frozen" camp. Over-saturation is right, Ember!

It's probably not the fault of the movie itself, but rather it's the hype -- both pre-movie release hype and post-movie release hype -- that ruined a lot of it for me. If there hadn't been so much hype, and so much in-your-face Frozen everywhere, I would have thought it was a cute little movie with a plot line that was one part Disney and one part 'Rankin Bass Christmas special' (and, hey, I love me some stop motion Rankin-Bass specials, so I am fine with that kind of storyline). Once it took off and soared up into the stratosphere, I was already getting sick of it before I actually saw the movie!

I will admit to thinking that the idea of the Olaf sandman that sat in the Esplanade during the summer (or at least for a while) was very clever -- but it also seemed like a way to keep Frozen in the spotlight while the temperatures sizzled.

I also thought there was enough Frozen at DLR last year, with Olaf in Winter Dreams, the Anna and Elsa meet & greet in FL and Olaf at the ice rink in DTD. All of those things will still probably be in place when/if this Frozen mini-land takes over Hollywood Land on the weekend before Christmas, along with the Boutique in DTD.

And why on earth would there be an ice rink in DCA and an Olaf ice rink in DTD (the latter of which is supposed to be open through February 22nd)??:confused3 Two Frozen ice rinks at DLR, at the same time? Good grief. It's enough with Frozen already. I know that a lot of children are in love with the movie and that's obviously a huge factor, but Disney could cut out half of the Frozen-related activities at DLR and still have plenty of it for the little ones to enjoy!

Very well put Sherry.

I actually didn't make it to the cinema to watch the movie. Then when I went to WDW in spring it was in flight entertainment. I was like "oh cool, then I'll be busy and finally know what this hype is all about."

It's not that I disliked it. As you say, it's a cute little movie. Not one of my top Disney movies, but enjoyable. But still, I kept waiting and waiting for something to happen that explained this hype and the moment never came. :confused3

Vala --

Yes, it's an enjoyable movie on its own -- also not one of my favorites, and not one that I want to watch over and over. (I am a much bigger fan of the Toy Story franchise, and I think I'm one of the only ones who is thrilled that there is going to be a TS4!:cool1:)

Hype will ruin almost everything, but there is no way to stop it. Hype is like a comet shooting across the sky. It has to eventually just crash into something and fizzle out, or explode in mid-air!:rotfl2:

Well, I think that the inevitable Parks Blog or press release about all of this Frozen stuff should be coming up very soon. I don't think we'll have to wait much longer to get the official confirmation of what we already know will happen.

I just can't even imagine the madness that will be the crowds at DLR from 12/20 (assuming that is the start date) through the end of the holiday season on 1/6/15 -- especially Christmas week and New Year's week. DLR is already filled to the brim with people between Christmas and New Year's, and now add in a big helping of Frozen and it will probably be madness for a couple of weeks (even though Deluxe and SoCal AP holders will be blocked).

i'm sorry to all those who are frozen burn out but my family and I are deffinatly in the "yeahh Frozen camp" lol. I do hope when we go when ever next year or year after i'll be able to see the mini frozen land. We as a family were talking about how they should make Ariendale like they did for cars land lol

Again sorry to those who are frozened out.

Us too Jade!

Its funny because last year at this exact time everyone was saying, "Where can we get some Frozen stuff?!" I mean, the fifteen dollar Elsa doll was selling on eBay for big profits - just the dang barbie doll for Pete's sake.

Now that Disney responded, its "over saturation". Hilarious.

Ah well - I go with my little girls's reactions. They are 4 and 6, and will be in complete heaven in a Frozen land.

I agree. I don't have kids but I am sure a Disney princess at heart and I LOVE this movie. I don't watch the movie over and over and I don't buy any of the merchandise that are plaguing stores, but I do enjoy looking at it and I think its super cute and I can't wait to meet Elsa and Anna next year and feel totally jealous that people who are going to Disneyland this winter season get to partake in the Frozen festivities. Nothing is going to last forever and I say just enjoy it while its in the parks cause it probably won't last. True what the other posters are saying by waiting until Disney officially announces it but you know something is coming. Have fun. :thumbsup2

Whatever they do, I just hope it looks awesome. The lights, blacklights, colors and shapes of Mad T Party looked so cool at night. A Frozen theme has a lot of potential to look really nice.
