New Four Seasons Concept Art

That looks beyond fabulous!

My hubby and I have been anxious for this construction to begin. We would LOVE to stay there....but DH is a castmember so we will continue to stay in Disney resorts.

However, it's about time Disney has a dose of reality when it comes to the management of it's resort properties. They will finally have real, honest competition.

We travel often (I am gone 2 weeks a month for business alone) and have found Disney's resorts overpriced and understaffed for the obscene rates they charge. No doubt the FS will be expensive, but it will blow the GF out of the water.

After FS the moderate hotel will open and the results will trickle down to the Delux and Moderate Disney hotels.

It will be altogether good that Disney has the challenge.....we will then find better service, better maintenance and better choices at our Disney Resort hotels.

Next.....do you think FS will be happy with the Disney cattle-call bus system?

Once people begin to compare a FS Disney holiday to a Disney Resort Holiday, I think things will change.....and change for the BETTER at WDW hotels. Heck, we may even get clean bathrooms in the Parks! Woo Hoo

While I'm sure it will be a fabulous hotel, I still keep hearing that old clip of Walt taking about the benefits of the size of the Florida land that he'd just bought. And he bought it all specifically to stop this kind of private development from happening on the park's doorstep as it had with Disneyland.

Just take a look at the Swolphin from inside Epcot if you're in any doubt - it just adds the perfect finishing touch to the themeing of the skyline of the countries of World Showcase.

The trouble is, once you start selling off the family estate for a quick buck, it's very difficult to get it back.

Considering how overpriced the Disney deluxe properties are, I can't even begin to guess what the rates for a FS there would be.
I'll start saving now. ;)

That's what I keep thinking. Wow if Disney charges say $400-$600 per night for a standard room at a deluxe resort I can't imagine what the price of a 4 Seasons resort room on Disney property would cost. Allbeit, it would be awesome I don't think I'd sleep thinking how much money I'd be paying every time my head hit the pillow. :scared1:

I have never stayed at a four seasons, and to be honest I am not tempted by that picture. When I go to WDW I go for Disney theming, but I am sure others will be pleased with this new luxury resort. Hopefully it will make the Disney resorts more competitive with pricing.:)

When I looked at the concept art for the Four Seasons it reminded me of a European/Mediterranean look. I thought if Walt had lived and built his planned Venetain Resort it may have looked a lot like the Four Seasons art concept shown below:

Before the MK was even built plans were in place for 4 hotels to be on the monorail line. The Grand Floridian hotel is on the land that was set aside and dedicated to be the "Future" Asian Resort Hotel (A). The "Future"
Venetian (B) Resort was going to located between the Poly (5) and the Contemporary (8). A fifth hotel was going to build on a monorail spur which ended at the "Future" Persian Resort (C). That resort would be located just to east of the Mk and North of the Contemorary and would built with much of the hotel being on /over the water of Bay Lake. So even though the GF was not built until 18 years later a hotel was planned for that area at the same time the monorail was planned.

I got this picture and my info from my"The story of Walt Disney World"
Commemory Edition Book 1971.

I posted some more information on this construction over on the Rumors & News Board / Four Seasons thread but I incorrectly stated it would be located directly on Bay Lake ...

Corrected information appears below..

I got this wrong - way wrong.. yes there will be water taxi service to MK, but not from the shores of Bay Lake and the water in the artists rendering is NOT Bay Lake as I had incorrectly assumed.

Allow me to try and explain..

If you look at the clubhouse on a map, and draw a line due north, Eagle Pines is to the right, and Osprey Ridge is to the left. Eagle Pines is the course that has been leveled to make room for the resort, Osprey Ridge will remain as this new resorts private course.

Rumor has it that the canal that runs along Osprey #18 will be widened to accommodate boats to take guests to the MK via Bay Lake. ( I guessed that boat service to MK part correctly in a previous Four Seasons thread .. I just incorrectly judged the location of the launch)

Now, I would assume Eagle Pines #18, which is currently between the two lakes sort of, will be taken out thus combining two small lakes to make one large lake thus the lake view of the resort in the artist rendering that's floating around. This is .. just an assumption based on the other info.

It has also been suggested that the hotel / resort would be located where Eagle Pines #17 hole was last located... which is NOT on the shore of Bay Lake... but would be on the edge of the twoexisting lakes, if they were combined... hence the concept art saying "Lakeside".

My corrected info comes from a contact with good connections to the construction company managing this project.

I think I got it right this time. (EDIT: Confirmed this is supposedly correct)

Wow, I thought Eagle Pines was going to be the Four Seasons private course. I didn't know it was going to be the site for the Four Seasons.

DH and I were planning on playing golf at Osprey Ridge next summer--I wonder how this construction and the new Four Seasons ownership will factor into that?

We played at the Palm last year, looks like we might be playing there again next year. :headache:

Eagle Pines will be leveled to create the space for the new resort as well as the timeshares as well as the fractional / full time ownership individual residences. Eagle Pines closed on July 31st, 2007 to allow time to prepare the site for construction.

Osprey will be the course that 'lives on' as the signature course for the new Four Seasons Resort. I would expect that greens fees will increase dramatically and access to the course will be much tougher to schedule.

As it stands right now, Osprey will remain open and operating throughout most phases of the construction thru 2010. I would imagine as the resort gets close to finished the golf course will close for some touch-ups etc.

This was my line of thinking - --- will it be more expensive than, say, POLY or GF?

Thank you Knox for all this information. Knowing the location of Eagle Pines in relation to Bay Lake, I didnt think it sounded quite right, but I just assumed that you knew way more than I did:thumbsup2 Of the two courses, Osprey is definitely the better of the two, so I am glad it wont be changed, but I am not a fan of it becoming the FS "resort" course. Oh well such is life I guess....

Bye Bye River Country...It was right in the heart of all this developement.

A moment of silence.

I may be over-reacting now that I think of it..but I am sure it will go. It's right next door.

It's like that toxic gas station in the middle of all the nice developements that no one wants to touch but eventually they do because it's an eye sore.

Having said that. I love the four seasons. And they do run some really good packages for families. They have really good kids clubs.

I would suggest, given the pricing of Four Seasons resorts in other locations in Florida that yes, in fact, this will be up there. I think it will exceed the 'standard room rates' for those resorts. I'm merely guessing at this point, but Disney will extract their profit from this arrangement and I can't imagine that FS will not pass that on to the guest in the form of higher than usual room rates.

I only know what I'm told on this one. :) But this information appears pretty solid. I'm not a golfer but numerous folks who are have told me that Osprey was the 'better' course in their view.

I'm not at all confident that's true.. Most of this development is well away from and out of view from River Country. Boats will pass the old R/C area on the way to MK but that has been happening for years and hasn't forced Disney's hand yet.

That is going to be one longgggg boat ride to the MK:)

And that is the understatement of the year! Yeah, that won't be a 'quick trip' by any means. But then, I took the boat ride to DTD from OKW.. it was a nice relaxing boat ride that I very much enjoyed... but it wasn't quick either.
