Ok, so in my ongoing attempt to become another Groucho, I was finally able to purchase the Pentax 10-17mm!! Here are the first photos out of the box!

These first few are from my office...

Any feedback or comments PLEASE!!!

How fun! A fisheye is on my short list of lenses; they look just so fun to play with. Congrats!

Congrats! Nice shots right out of the box.

Nice car, too! :thumbsup2

not to be rude but Christmas has been over for awhile now;)
nice lens though...i have the tokina and like it, just don't use it as much as i should.

Neat! I think we need to see a Dole Whip or Tonga Toast or something, though. ;)

(I too was wondering if that was a Christmas decoration! :rotfl: )

That is nothing! We have a woman at work that has a complete 4ft. tree up still. It is still decorated and she turns the lights on everyday!!! Very strange.

Congratulations! It's a great little lens, I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with it. It's also surprisingly versatile; at 17mm, I've had good luck using it in situations like character meals, etc, where you need a wide angle without too much distortion.

Your car shots remind me of some I took of my last car before trading it in for a newer version back in December... I took some right from the nose and they sure look weird. :)

You know, the fact that you said ANY of my shots remind you of some that you took is a HUGE compliment! Thanks!! :thumbsup2 I remember looking at one of your pictures the other day and you said it was taken from your dad's boat looking at the sunset. It was taken with your K100D and your 50mm f/1.4 and I'm sitting there thinking, "I have the EXACT same setup and I can't get a shot to look like that." I think that just strengthens the argument that it's more the photographer than the camera. Kevin is another one of the Pentax users around here (and I know there are others) that just really impress me with their shots!! Great job ALL of you!!! :woohoo:

Well, that boat shot was a lucky one, being in the right place at the right time. I am definitely not at the point where I can get a decent photo out of any situation! The ones that get put here are the keepers but there are thousands of ones tossed to the side, too.

The car shots of mine that yours reminded me of are these, taken the last day I had the car. Unfortunately it was early morning (it was the only chance I had to get shots of it being trading it in), so there's very high contrast (I did a bunch of "recovery" in Lightroom) plus it looks like I accidentally had it in aperture priority at F6.3, which put it up to ISO 1600. :( Anyway, the full-on nose fisheye shot always comes out looking a little weird. ;)
