It was crowded tonight at the Park, but I guess with the official start of the holiday season, the opening of IASW (after a pain-staking 8 months), the new fireworks show, and SNOW... what else would one expect?

The fireworks show is nice, but I have to say, there is just nothing that comes close to the Dreams fireworks show.

And of course, it is always fun when it snows in So. Cal. :wizard: There was a little boy (3, maybe 4) on a bench behind me and when the snow started to fall, I turned to see his face. The awe and wonderment in his eyes was sheer magic for me. Just priceless.

What did the new 'light show' extending from the sparkly Castle up Main Street to the tree look like? Could you notice a difference in the lighting on Main Street from previous holiday seasons (it normally looks great, but this year is supposed to be different).

Have to agree. It was very crowded last night. Well, on Main Steet. Early in the evening it was crazy crowded, but empty in TomorrowLand and New Orleans Square was empty. Oh, and IASW was very very crowded. Later in the evening though those areas switched.

The fireworks were great, and so was the snow. I watched from behind the VIP seating on the Main Street platform. The Christmas tree blocked some of the Castle view though. But it was a great effect when it lit up on cue.

I'm such a sap, I always cry during the snow... I plan on doing it next week too!

It was great. The light show was awesome...you should have heard the people gasping and oohing.

It was way too crowded for my taste. When we got there at about 5, Main Street was packed. But we made it over to TL, and Space Mountain only had a 35 minute wait, and FP was only an hour ahead, so we got one. Then we went to IASW, and the line was huge, but it only took about 15-20 minutes. HMH was a 5 minute wait at about 7:00, but by 7:30, Space Mountain was packed, and we even had to wait in line with fastpasses. Then the ride broke down while we were on it, and we were stuck for a while.

I haven't seen a crowd as big for fireworks in a long time, but we managed to squeeze in, and we called it a night after the snow. I hate being in the park when it's crowded.

What exactly happens during the light show? In other words, are the same icicles that are hanging off of the Castle also adorning the buildings on Main Street, or are there just colored lights on Main Street? Do they all light up in unison with the Castle or does the Castle light up first, then the trees by the Partners statue, etc., then Main Street, then the Christmas tree? And does this light show happen just before the snow, or is it off and on all night? I want details (since it is supposed to be so different from what they did last year)!!!

I agree, it was a nice fireworks show, especially with the red and gree rapid bursts, but I still prefer the Dreams show. The snow was great!

Why isn't anyone talking about the lights? They made a big deal out of it yet it seems like no one noticed anything special? I know Sherry and myself have worked ourselves up into a tizzy about seeing the new stuff so someone please put us out of our misery and give us some details?? TIA!

Hee hee! I have wanted to know about this darn light show and what exactly what was done to Main Street that is supposdely different from previous years, but we can't seem to get an actual account of what is happening! I have worked myself into a DLR holiday frenzy, grasping for any little detail! You, ParkHoppa and I are inquiring minds and we want to know!!!:goodvibes

I know! And the tree! The tree is supposed to be doing some crazy light show too! And the building on Main Street, those were supposed to have lights on them too. Right? :hyper:

Yeah, I thought (maybe incorrectly) that the lighting effects with the sparkly, glowy icicles on the Castle were supposed to be extended up Main Street to the tree. So, in my mind, I assumed that meant glowy, sparkly icicles all over the Main Street buildings. Maybe that's not the case and they just hung some colored Christmas lights on Main Street and then they flash them during the light show, and then flash the tree lights?? We have to get a first-hand account of what exactly is happening!:yay:

Sorry, I always watch it from in front of It's A Small World, b/c I hate being jammed in with everyone in front of the castle. I didn't see any light show except for projections onto IASW.

Hi all,

We were lucky enough to see the fireworks on our last night in the park, and they were wonderful!
As for the lighting, I did notice that when it was 'snowing', the trees near the Partners statue had white lights on them to make them look like they were covered in snow.
It was really lovely!

Here's a video I found on youtube from last night! The lights on the tree and the garlands on Main Street look beautiful! Same with the castle!!

Video Here

Sherry, I think this answers your question!!

Thanks for posting the video link -- I think that show was work waiting for! :santa:

You're welcome! It's very very pretty!

The way Disney made it seem in their press release was that the shops on Main Street were going to have the same lights/snow that the castle has. I'm kind of sad they don't, but now thinking of it, it would probably be too bright at night and too clutery looking in the day.

I'm happy with the way Disney went with this! It's beautiful and the tree looks fantastic!

Thank you, Deesquared, for your info from last night.

And a BIG thank you to Courtney for coming through with the video link!!!!:thumbsup2 That IS exactly what I wanted to see/hear about! The Castle looks absolutely gorgeous just as it is, with the sparkly icicles at night, but then when they do the light show and make it even snowier, and then make the Christmas tree and garlands white and snowy, that is awesome! That is a cool effect! But I know what you mean, I had a different impression of what Main Street would have in terms of lights and 'snowy decorations' as well. I thought it would have the same snow patches and icicles hanging all the way down Main Street, but you are right - it could look a little too busy during the daytime if they did that.

I agree with Lisa - that was worth the wait. Now we know exactly what happens on Main Street during the light show!!:santa: Thanks again, Courtney, for posting that!:goodvibes

You're welcome, Sherry! :) I was on the hunt for a video or something because I was curious too!!
