New features/improvements that you LOVE

Other than the buses I can't think of anything major -- but then again I've only been going since 1996. CS are nice but not really new. Sorry.

When is BINGO???

It varies but it is normally on weekends or during holidays and is in the afternoon. They either have it at the pool deck or at the campfire area. It will be on the activities list sheet that you get when you check in. 1$ per card, usually 3 or 4 games and mickey merchandise as prizes (some pretty good ones too). My kids have won several times.

BigKahuna, the new arcade at the Contemporary isn't THAT bad, it was actually bigger than I thought it would be. Of course, it's nowhere near as great as the old one :(

As for the Fort, I like that they expanded the golf cart fleet to make it easier to get one. I like that they have put more safety checks in place at some of the more blind crossings. I like that the canals have been cleaned up significantly (a few years ago they were totally overrun and were basically green).

I also like the 2 out of the last 3 years at Thanksgiving the Fort has been really cold. I don't know how Disney does it, but I really like it ;)

I thought of something positive!

All of the playground equipment has been upgraded in the past few years!

There are real nice play areas with safe, modern, equipment at the Settlement, adjacent to the 300 loop, adjacent to the Meadows Pool, and at the entrance to the 1200/1300 loops.

Truth be told, there were some additional areas that used to have playground equipment that no longer are so equipped. There used to be playground equipment at the entrance to the 1400 loop, in the Creakside Meadows (group camping area), and there used to be swings and a slide on the beach, where the expanded golf cart parking area is now. But, that equipment was old 70's style metal equipment, and it was not real safe!

That is a good improvement. My girls aren't into playgrounds anymore, but my 6 year old had fun at the settlement play area. :)

I remember the Chip/Dale and the Boone/Crocket busses. Wasn't one set inside FW and the other to the TTC? I guess I must go back even a little further though, I remember the trains (and I wasn't a kid).

Chip/Dale were the internal busses & Boone/Crockett were external busses. (and for any of you "sick-minded" people - we're not referring to medical examinations :rotfl2: )

I even miss the singer that was at TE every night:charac2:

We loved that guy! He played the banjo & guitar & fiddle & even had a "singing fish" puppet - - - well, it was more of a fish shaped hot-mitt, but ya had to love him!! He reminded me of Jim Stafford!

Hey guys...you are drifting back to OLD things again...I am looking for NEW things at the Fort. ;) Is there anything other than the refillable mugs that Disney has done at FW in the last 5 years ?? :confused3

They are cleaning out all the dead trees & non-native vegetation....

They finally got rid of that old travel trailer near T.E.....

They changed the petting zoo to a non-petting zoo....

They remodeled the Trading Post & emptied out the back nook that had the unusual items....

They closed the wilderness swamp trail....

They "de-shoed" the shoe tree....

They re-built the front bus stop...

They put in a new returning guest entrance (YAY)...

They did away with "Winter Settler" rates...

They have a different rate for every day of the year...

They have re-fillable mugs that are not resort branded...

They allow LarryJ to fruit fish....

They still allow GatorDad & Stacktester to make reservations & actually come to FtW!!!

They now allow pets (didn't use to do that)....

They discontinued the steam locomotive...

They discontinued the trams....

Ummmmmm, have I forgotten anything???

Oh yeah...............!!!!

They established "Colson's Crossing"....

Now that's what I call a list ;) Man I sure hope I remember to get a picture by Colson's Crossing in a few weeks :P

You forgot about the nice pruning job on the lawnmower tree!

TCD

You are absolutely correct!!! How could I forget that???

Also.... the creek use to flow directly out into Bay Lake behind the 300 loop. Now, they have a water control dam there. Dammit!!!

That's to allow you to catch some dam bait.
