Precisely Matt. The ONLY people who will benefit from this program are those who make just one trip to WDW each year and spend less than 5 days there. Otherwise, they'd have AP's.
I AM shut out of this program Bob. I spend about 30-40 days at WDW. If I were to book WDTC travel packages for those trips (disregarding the cost of paying rack rates for the room) I'd spend an additional $4500 or so in park tickets alone for my family each year. That's what it would cost me to get this privelege.
WDW charges what they do for an AP because they know the holders will use it. And when they do they will stay in the resorts, buy food and merchandise. The flat rate on the AP encourages more and more and more return visits.
I can nearly guarantee I spend more $ per annum than folks that travel to WDW once a year (no matter what concierge they stay in.) Those 30-40 nights are always in Disney resorts and we eat all of our meals in the World.
Clearly, AP holders aren't going to spend thousands of extra dollars on park passes in order to get premium fastpass. And it that's the only way to get it. Then, yes, they are being shut out. So who benefits? The one-timers or infrequent travellers. Quite honestly, WDW's worst customers.
What does this program do for me? IT. forces me to spend a larger portion of my day in attraction queues. It's that simple.
