New Fast passes

I wouldn't use an unsecured wifi network with my smartphone even if they did provide one. Too much personal info on my phone that would be a nightmare if hacked.

I do have a tablet that I use when I travel that I'll connect to hotel or airport wifi but I use it only for books, movies and games. No banking apps, email or personal data.

We have AT&T, and our service sucks in the parks... Particularly when waiting in crowds. It's a bummer when you're stuck holding down your MSEP spot for two hours and you can't even use the internet because nothing will load.

Did they ditch the 30 minute waiting period before parades already or are you just speaking generally? haha

I don't disagree with that. I'd be surprised if they did an open network. Seems like something where you used your ticket number to access would keep it secure and keep folks outside the park from freeloading. If they insist on charging for the new FP system, they could go a step further and make a username available only to those who pay for the fee, making it so only those who buy the service have access to the wifi. I'm NOT saying I like that idea, I'm just saying there are options to secure the network and not do the lazy open network approach.

Over this past weekend, as far as I could tell, it was the same as it ever was with people sitting on the ground as if they were homeless seemingly for hours.

No wifi exists in the parks and T mobiles network along with pretty much all the other providers (except verizon I hear) stink in Disneyland.
Yikes. I guess I didn't realize that there wasn't free wifi at DL the way there is at WDW. This will definitely make things more difficult.

That's an interesting thought. Especially since people reported pulling RSR FP during EMH this week. If they allowed FP dispersal during EMH/MM after the APP comes, then those with the APP would have an advantage visiting the EMH park even if they didn't have EMH privileges. Guests are often allowed into the park 20-30 minutes early. So if they were able to control the app so you could only pull FP after walking through the gates, those who enter the park early on an EMH just to wait for regular opening could in theory pull a FP too.

THIS IS WHY I ASKED ABOUT EMH in the 1st place !!
Still no solid and confirmed rules on MAX PASS so I guess we shall have to play the wait 'n' see game!!
Also was there a firm answer to how much AP holders have to pay XTRA for MAX PASS ?

No firm answer on how much adding to an AP will cost. Just rumors that it will be expensive, like $300.

A note on the DL network issues: when we were there in February, I was trying to cancel/modify a dinner reservation using the official DL app. Tried for hours throughout the day and kept getting an error message. Finally went to a CM info cart and asked for the direct phone number to speak to someone about changing my dining reservation. Called and got through, but was told by the person on the phone that the WHOLE Disneyland internet was also down - the reason why I wasn't able to change/access it myself. They couldn't help me. Only offered to write down my reservation number and when the network finally came back up, they would cancel the reservation with no charge to me. The DL network continued to be down several times throughout that trip...

Makes me really worried about the Maxpass. I hope they are prepared for this, or summer vacay could be a nightmare!:(

Holy Moley! I really hope they give us this info soon. Something like that my family will have to budget for, and our countdown clock is at 95 days... Really excited to go, but worried I'm going to understand all this before getting there. Disney Mommy freak out moment!! LOL:scared::teeth:

We bought a sim in the States especially so we could use the app in the parks last time we were there. what a waste of time! reception sacked and we could hardly ever even get the app to load. Without free WiFi, using phones to sort FP access will be impossible for most.
