New FAA policy: "Flying Toddlers Can Now Bring Own Harnesses"

This was demonstrated on the Today show this week by Peter Greenburg in his travel segment. Looked very easy to use and obviously a lot smaller to lug around an airport :thumbsup2 . They also showed footage of a simulated hard (not crash) landing with a crash dummy of toddler size using this device and it appeared to restrain them very well. If you flew much at all this might be a very worthwhile investment.....

I have been using a Baby b'Air since DS was 5 months old and while it was not approved for takeoff and landing he still wore it and I felt he was much more secure

We used this when he didnt have a seat as well as when he did---that way if he was on my lap because he needed a break at least he was still secured in some way

The new seat does look interesting and I will look into it for our new baby
Thanks for the info

Children using a CARES harness must be in their own seats. The harness is only approved for children who are at least 1 yr. old and weigh between 22-44 lbs; it is not something you can use for an infant.

BTW, the list price is $75.

Thanks for the tip. I prepurchased the harness, which they say will come out late Sept. I see that 2,900 have already ordered. This has been a godsent since my toddler can get out of any seatbelt, but not yet a harness. He would never sit down and I didn't feel like paying for a seat, which he wouldn't be using. Now he would feel like he is sitting in a car.
