Looks like Diagon Alley will be in soft openings by 6-5. Or at least the Leaky Cauldron. Interesting news!

Not quite sure what is so exclusive unless they are just going to be limiting the Leaky Cauldron breakfast to package holders like they did at the opening of Wizarding World.

That's exactly it, according to the folks I just spoke to on the phone. Breakfast is not offered to the public at either location, only to package holders.

And this package get you two breakfasts - one at each location!

Plus a souvenir stuffed owl, in a cool box with your tickets and a welcome letter, all waiting for you at check-in.

We had a 30 percent discounted room-only reservation for the end of August with 3-Park Unlimited tickets purchased separately. My husband and I agreed we were willing to go as high as an additional 60 dollars per person (there's four of us), to get the breakfasts and stuffed owl.

So, I called the 800 number this morning (thank you SO much for letting us know about this, GeorgiaPeach74!!!!). And the lovely woman on there did a wonderful job of figuring out how to get us the package with the 3 park unlimited tickets (it wasn't an option on her screen, so she had to go talk to her supervisor), which ultimately meant that switching over to the package cost us only an additional 173 dollars (aprox).

Our old room ressie and tickets have been refunded, and we're all set to go.

I'm SO excited! pixiedust:

The hard part is going to be resisting the urge to tell the kids anything about it. My 18yo daughter grew up with Harry Potter - this trip is mainly for her (she's graduating next month). She has a well-loved stuffed Hedwig that sits on her shelf in her room, and I can't wait to see her reaction when she sees that welcome package. :cloud9:

And my 16yo son was unhappy because we usually pack porridge and eat it in our room when we travel, and he considers that inadequate sustenance to start a day. When he finds out we've got two "real" breakfasts booked, he's going to be thrilled (he's currently saving up his money so he can buy himself breakfast :rotfl2:).

Interesting note: Apparently these packages are limited in quantity. The lady I talked to last, in order to cancel my old room-only ressie, wanted to be absolutely sure I had the package confirmed before she went ahead on the cancellation.

Your son can have porridge here too.;) It is on the breakfast menu. The $173 for two breakfasts for 4 people isn't too bad. Plus the plush owl. Breakfasts are about $15 each right now. So that owl didn't cost too much!!!

Make sure when you book your breakfast times, you book them for after the 1 hour early entry because you're going to be wanting to use that time for other things before the hordes of people show up.

Last time, staying at an onsite hotel allowed you to book breakfasts too once you were there. It will be interesting to see if that changes.

I see that travel dates for these packages start on June 29. Looks like they aren't taking any chances this time.

I did! :goodvibes

I booked the first breakfast for 10am the day after we arrive, even though we won't be making early entry on that day, as our plane doesn't land until 11:40pm the night before. It's okay - we'll still have six full park days.

And I booked the second one for 9:30am the day after that, with the plan of getting in an hour and a half of Wizarding World fun, before we sit down to eat breakfast.

I can't wait until the expansion officially opens and we start getting reports back.

I don't know anything about booking breakfasts after you've checked in... the girl on the phone told me that the package is the only way to get them. But that might just be for now, and I'm guessing it will probably depend on how many bookings they get.

I REALLY hope this means the expansion is FULLY open by June 29th. It doesn't necessarily. We booked a similar package the year the original section opened and booked it before an opening date was announced. The package holders WERE the soft opening at the end of May/ beginning of June. No one who didn't have a universal room could get in.

I'm already booked at Disney and am unwilling to move to universal.

I checked out the package costs with our dates in December and it would be a good deal if we needed tickets but we have annual pass. I really prefer not to do packages anyway.

I got the offer in my email but I can't figure out how to use it online? I can call in a hour or so to get a price. We have to pay for food so the 2 breakfast could come in handy.

Well I am now alittle confused. My friend and I have been debating on upgrading to this package (we have booked hotel and tickets separately) I asked the nice lady on the phone, if we stick with our original reservations, is breakfast or lunch available for reservation, and I was told breakfast was exclusive to the package, which I already knew, but she said lunch is as well and not available outside of the package. I feel like she was just selling me the package. I don't see that they would either not open during lunch time or not allow guest to book a reservation to lunch or dinner. Anyone have any thoughts?

I had booked the package and only had 2 breakfasts (Leaky Cauldron and Three Broomsticks). There's no lunch.

I'm sure Leaky Cauldron will be available for lunch and dinner without a reservation. I think it will operate the same as Three Broomsticks which doesn't accept reservations for lunch and dinner. They are counter service and not table service

If it's like Three Broomsticks it will be open for lunch. There are no reservations. I've only had them do reservations as part of the packages. Otherwise it's walk up first come first serve as far as I know.

But the Leaky Cauldron is new so it could work different. I would call again and ask a different person to see if you different answer from a different person.

I received this email too but when pricing it out for 4 people (2 adults and 2 teens) was quoted nearly $2000.00 for the package. A room for 4 nights with the SMSM plus 4/ 3 day park to park was $1720.00. Granted we don't get the exclusive breakfast but we can purchase breakfast for the 2 days for much less and our girls are both 16 so no real need for the owl (although a very nice touch!). Unfortunately, the package did not really work for us monetarily. :sad1:

Sorry to hear it didn't work out! :sad1:

For us, staying 8 nights at the Royal Pacific Resort, 3 adults and one teen, with 3 Park Unlimited tickets, the entire Harry Potter themed package came to just about 2570 dollars. We were pretty happy with that, but we are staying twice as long as you, so it's a better deal.
