Hello,

I just received an email from my wedding coordinator with a new planning kit attached. As I was looking over it, I noticed on the photography package that comes with an Escape wedding, and it looks like they have included a standard resolution DVD.

"Up to two hours of coverage is included in your Escape package. You will receive a (20) print 5x7 album with your choice of photos along with website posting and a standard resolution DVD (suitable for email, online posting and printing up to 4x6 photos)."

How awesome is that! Hope this is true!

That is so awesome....I just had my escape wedding in December and would have loved that DVD because I really wanted all of the pics but ended up not upgrading our package. We just went with the photo album that was included. still waiting for it to arrive!

We also hired Randy Chapman so we did get DVD's with all the pics. There were many that our Disney Photographer took that I wanted in jpeg form though.

That's pretty good. First being able to select photographers and now this, sounds like Disney is finally responding to the obvious preference of using outside photographers. I'm still excited about having Randy but if theses were offered earlier we probably would not have added him.

I didn't get an email about anything today. :sad2: Hopefully I will get 1 tomorrow. :confused3 Or I might just email my planner. Who knows?!

The DVD didn't used to be included? The standard one I mean? We got married Feb. 15th and we got a DVD, I just assumed it was a proof DVD. I ended up posting them on FB and they're not great quality but I was SO excited to share our pictures that I posted them hahaha. I'll upload them to photobucket and post a few here for you guys to see!

Okee, lets give this a shot. These are straight from the DVD that we got in the mail with our proof book and 4x6 photos of our MK shoot. We ordered the bajillion dollar DVD this past Sunday. I thought I had committed to NOT doing that.

This is the picture that was posted on Facebook...

DH and I were laughing through our vows...we take things very seriously around here. Okay, in reality we were desperately trying not to burst into tears and laughing at each other.

Sorry, went a little picture happy there. We're so happy with our photos. Anyway, that's what comes on the DVD that you don't pay for!

Historically, for couples out of the US, the DVD was always included.

Neener,

Your photos are beautiful. Were you able to make prints from the DVD that came with the package? If so, how was the quality once they were printed?
Were these the standard resolution or high resolution?

Thank you for your help.:cutie:

Thank you! We haven't made any prints off of that DVD because we ordered the high-res one (we haven't gotten it yet). These would print 4x6 I think, but they look terrible blown up or enlarged on the computer.

That is correct. Disney Photographic Services now includes this "standard resolution" disc with all the Escape packages—the key is that the resolution is really low, only good enough for posting images online. It's really supposed to be a proof disc that you use to view all your images so you can choose the ones you want to buy from Disney.

Still, it's great to have digital files you can post online, as well as a better representation of all your images than the tiny thumbnails in the proof book they send.

Just to follow up on this, it turns out that person we spoke to at DPS was mistaken and Disney is NOT able to guarantee photographers after all. They do try their best to accommodate requests, and usually it works out, but the nature of such a high-volume operation is that an employee can't be in two places at once or scheduled to work immediately after another long shoot. :(

Just emailed my planner asking about this for our May Escape wedding. It would really be a slap in the face if I am told "NO" so hopefully, she will make the changes on our BEO because it would not seem fair that newer escape brides are given this and not one's who booked a while ago like we did.

I didn't even think about asking my planner to add the disc. I just assumed that it would only be available to couples signing their contracts now. Off I go to email my planner and will be getting my 4th BEO update!

Lurkyloo: thanks for that update. We ended up getting one of our 2 requests anyway, but we're still glad to have Randy.

Does anyone know if this is the same disc that only 'foreign' brides used to get? Or will we be given a hi-res disc also?

The whole "foreign bride" (:cutie:) thing doesn't apply anymore. Everyone gets a low-res proof disc, no matter where they live. None of Disney's packages include hi-res or archival-res discs—you have to pay or swap for them (rules vary depending on what package you're getting).

So I upgraded to the $750 (Cinderella D) package just so I could get the DVD and NOW it's being given for free to all Escape Brides? Sorry but that s*cks!

Or does this mean I will get 2 DVDs? Which I doubt! Totally not a happy camper hearing about this.

Don't get me wrong - I'm happy for the brides getting them for free, but it's costing me an extra $750 and our VR is in a week & a half.

I think the CD you get with that package is a hi-res CD, the one they're talking about including is a lower quality one, the biggest print you can get out of it is a 4x6.

Exactly—you are paying for a disc of images you can actually print! The disc that people get for free is just for viewing the images and emailing them/posting online. They say you can make prints up to 4x6 from it, but 4x6 is tiny these days! ;)
