i was talking to a cm on Sunday about sw land and expected crowds, and she let slip that she just learned that there will be a new entrance to DL near Mickey and friends parking that starts at sw land.

Any one heard confirmation of this?

No confirmation, but that would make a lot of sense.

My guess would be that she heard the Mice Chat rumor that there might be an entrance in that general area (but closer to Splash) from the new hotel to be built. I would not count on a 2nd main entrance closer to Mickey and Friends. If this was the case then the majority of people would not use the main entrance because it is farther.

People don't buy things while standing in line. People don't buy things while walking to where they will stand in line. The faster Disney can get any given guests into the park, the more times those cash registers will ring.

Any help at the entrances would be awesome. They open every gate and put up all the security gates and it still takes a minimum of 20 minutes to get through and sometimes as much as 45 minutes. Ridiculous. I hope this is true.

I dunno. The whole "entering by the train station and walking down Main Street toward the castle" thing is such a big part of the experience, I can't imagine having a second entrance that doesn't even SEE the castle.

A valid point, but if one is entering through a galaxy far, far away, that may have its own charm. SWL will bring a demographic that would otherwise never have considered a Disney Parks visit.

If this were to happen, it would likely be just for guests of the new hotel.

Yes, this is what I was going to say. The new hotel is probably going to be more expensive than GCH. I think they will need perks like a private entrance to Disneyland to help support the high prices.

There has been no official confirmation, but lots of speculation that there would be a hotel entrance like GHC into DCA for the new Hotel property.

You can bet that if it does indeed happen that it will be hotel guests only. No way would they want all the general public from M&F garage entering back by SW Land.

they should also add a DVC wing to the new hotel, given that The GCV inventory seems to lag demand. (I'm not DVC, just an observation)

That would be awesome as a DVC owner, but may be difficult. Disney is getting a tax break from the city of Anaheim, who is giving tax breaks to encourage more luxury hotels. I don't think the city would be happy with Disney trying to sneak a timeshare in there, but who knows. Disney can probably get away with a lot.

The city's reasoning for the incentive is to bring in "higher end" guests, thus more disposable income. The DVC member profile is one of considerable disposable income. Case in point: I can only dream of buying even a resale piece of DVC. DVC does it with a lot of polish, and I'm sure the city would be delighted with the results not only with the added disposable income, but also with local profits from construction plus an increase in ongoing, very high paying TS sales jobs..

The "tax break" is a refund of 70% of the room tax collected for the first 20 years -- which could pay for most (or all) of the hotel construction. DVC guests at DLR do not pay room tax, it's unlikely there will be a DVC wing in the new luxury hotel.

Right there next to Mickey and Friends structure? That would just become the main entrance for most people then and I don't see that happening.

MAYBE if there's a new hotel put in over there, but then they would only accept hotel guests through that entrance much like the Grand Californian entrance..

They may very well not, but it wouldn't be because of the tax logic. By the tax logic, they are not collecting room tax so they are not getting a break anyway (tax breaks wouldn't be their incentive for adding DVC units.....Sales revenue would).

Mixed Use hotel/TS seems to be all the rage currently. It wouldn't suprise me at all if they worked club floors into the hotel.

I'll add that she said she was told this by official channels, not from a website.
She didn't say one way or another if Mickey and friends customers could use the entrance, and I didn't ask her.

In any case, another entrance, no mattter who can use it, would be welcome.

I'll believe it when I see it... but, I'm cynical after a plaid "confirmed" that Star Wars Land would overtake Tomorrowland and be opened in 2015....

Here is the thing about these rumors...while it is fun to speculate and put pieces of the puzzle together they are all literally just rumors regardless of where they came from in the Cast Member food chain. I have a buddy that works in Burbank...and I am not even gonna name his title but he is right in the thick of all the new projects on the execution side. He of course can not talk, but even he says that things change so fast and furiously that they do not consider a project or proposal like this confirmed or "green lighted" is the term he used until they literally break ground. Even a permit being pulled means nothing in their world in terms of confirmation.

I don't know about an actual entrance, but it is not unlikely that there may be some thought to an exit that would be used at certain times like the quick exit at California Adventure that put you out at Downtown Disney after a World of Color show. if they could do that after say the fireworks, that would reduce the mass exit through Main Street and wait for the trams.
