I was just on FB and happened upon the disneyauditions.com webpage. Apparently they are in the process of casting "Female Character Performers for a new offering at Epcot's Japan Pavilion"! Wonder what it could be?! Thoughts?

I read it was supposed to be some sort of Harajuku M&G.

I'll see if I can find a link...

Oooh thank you! I'd love to apply, but I'm probably too pooh sized :(

When do they debut?

that sounds like a lot of fun, sadly on our trip to Tokyo last September, there were no Harijuku girls to be found in Harijuku, but there were plenty of similar looking Disney themed cosplay kids at Disneyland Tokyo as there was a week long Disney Cosplay festival in the park, the costumes were amazingly elaborate and highly stylized.

it'd be great if they did a Harijuku Minnie and Daisy meet n greet.

Which makes me wonder why Disney would add an element that is passé within the Japanese culture. Why bring a clownish group to the Japan pavilion when there are other Japanese customs that could be highlighted?

I would rather see GoGo Tamago and Honey Lemon from BH6 in a San Fransokyo area than passé Harajuku girls.

The only thing I can think would be that they are sort of "animated" looking. I would prefer something else totally though. Japan has tons of other really interesting things.

I think it's a great idea. The Harajuku/Kawaii culture is still going strong, there are lots of subsets of fashion there not just the clowny, dolly style. Setting up a shopping district with access to current Japanese fashions is really smart - the kids here are getting into it and would absolutely flock there.

Well i'm pretty sure harajuku is alot different than when i lived there back in the 80's. Back then the kids dressed up in 50's garb and danced to the oldies. We loved watching them on the weekends. Love to see what they are doing now.
