So we have a major snowstorm coming 1-2 feet of snow a classic nor'easter they say. I had to go to the grocery store (it was a planned trip!) to pick up a few things (fixings for rice krispie treats, priorities people, priorities) and so I braced myself for a crush of people. Nope there wasn't very many people in the store at all and the bread shelf was stocked! Don't know about milk and toilet paper because I didn't need any.

Yep, we New Englanders know the score.....

Yup, agreed! I really didn't even pay attention to the forcast until this morning.

Finally- a NE snowstorm thread that I'm not embarrassed to respond to:thumbsup2 . As a born and raised Connect-ite(?) I don't see a snow storm coming as a suprise or emergency. Bring it on. But most of my neighbors feel differently- I can see twice as many cars on the roads outside and my customers are telling me it is chaos out there. They also said the line at Munson's around the corner is out the door with men!:lmao: No suprise there either.

Yup, same here in Vermont. Just went out on my lunch hour to pick up a few groceries since I have tomorrow off :thumbsup2 and there was no one in the store.

However, I do pay attention to the forecast only because I'm a little kid at heart and I can't wait to play in the snow tomorrow with my DD's and my puppy! Poor DH has to work.

TWO FEET OR MORE IS PREDICTED!!

Down here in coastal RI they are calling for 2-5....that's a walk in the park.

Bring it on I say.

I am not planning on hitting the stores today. We have enough to last us for a while, and there is a convenience store within walking distance from my house.

I guess we don't get all discombobulated about snow because we know that after a few hours, the main roads will be all clear. I know in many places the snow and ice removal does not go nearly as smoothly, and it takes a long time for them to "dig out."

I dont' put too much stock in what the weathermen have to say. But with this storm, they haven't said to much, now that worries me. But, I go to the store if I need it. I'm not going to fight those half crazed people unless I really really need that bread and milk. But ohhhh rice krispy treats sound good. If the weather is bad, we'll just build a fire, light some candles and play monopoly with the kids.

our plow trucks and loader are ready to clean the streets :thumbsup2 get them outta my yard - BRING IT ON!!!

after I go to the Dr's this afternoon for a new prescript for this strep throat though!;)

I am not worried about it but apparently sea gulls are. When I got my double cheese burger for lunch today, there were no gulls to eat the bun. I always break up the bun in pieces and throw it out the window but I couldn't today. Not a bird in sight.

My mother has me insane. I live 2 towns away from her and my job. She badgered me all day yesterday until I agreed to go home after work, do a few things, then pack a bag and come back to spend the night with her. This morning, she emailed me to say that I should stay on Wednesday night, too. I have to go to court on Thursday morning, and the courthouse is less than 10 minutes from MY home. If I stay with her, it will take 30 minutes, possibly more with the snow, to get there.

I want to stay in MY home and eat MY food and sleep in MY bed. I'm 32 years old...I can take care of myself :sad2:

Pretty well stocked here... just went shopping last weekend! I figured there must have been a reason I picked up extra things then - now I know why!Just have to draw some extra H2O incase we lose power!:)

I literally had nothing in my house to eat, out of everything, and was forced to the store yesterday, and it was EMPTY  Couldn't believe how empty it was. Today it started to flurry while I was out, and the morons on the road SLAMMED on their brakes and drove 40 MPH in a 65, and nothing was on the ground yet! I guess you can't have everything.

let's hope it's still quiet when I stop there on my way home. I actually need to get bread and toilet paper.....because I skipped those aisles this week :( thinking that I didn't need either....
I'm gonna look like one of those storm dorks

Here in Northern RI we don't really know what we're getting since they keep changing the forecast.
I have no plans on going to the store. My normally scheduled milk man delivery is tomorrow, so hopefully that will arrive as scheduled.

BRING IT ON, BABY!!
Didn't do anything differently today and none of my neighbors are either. We are dying here for a snowstorm, way way way overdue, and guess are all tired of all the hype.
Mother Nature, please drop us some snow so the kids and I can stay home (even though it's a bit of a bummer to have to move V-day parties) and we'll be on :cloud9:.

Off Topic, but I HATE THAT. The same thing happens when you're doing 65 on the highway and people jack the brakes up and go 50 because there is a cop sitting on the side of the road. HELLO, the speed limit is 65, just because there is a cop doesn't mean you have to go 50.

Phewwwww, I feel better now. Back to our snow day thread.

We are going to get (so they say) between 12-18inches (depends how far north you go) and the coast will have some mix. I went by the local hannaford on the way to getting my nails done today(not because of the storm just a planned appt,:rotfl: ) and the parking lot was just about empty or as busy as any normal Tuesday.:goodvibes
We are breed for this stuff around here ;)
When ds got home from school he said that they are hoping to get the kids in for the morning then send them home b4 it gets to bad (as long as it doesn't start in the night hours) This is so that they can call it a school day, (if they make it to 11) and won't have to use one of the snowdays....the less they use the sooner they get out in June!
