New Englanders and April vacation

Just wondering how many New Englanders have the week of Patriot's Day off (4/18 - 4/24) and will be in the World. I just made VWL 2-br ressies for that week and was told that there was "lots of availability at all the resorts." It really surprised me! I know that we're not coinciding with the rest of the country's Easter week vacation, but I still thought it would have been tougher to book.

I think Patriot's Day is only celebrated in Mass. However, in my part of CT they will be having Spring Break at that same time -- April 19-23. They also get Good Friday, April 9 off.

Our spring school break is the week before. Patriots Day is a non event here. Course Fast Day (NH) is a non event here too. Seems like every state has "their" own holiday somewhere.

sorry don't know how to post the link! Go on the resorts board. Belle1962 has posted all the spring breaks for the entire country of course limited to people that posted. I found it very informative.

I live in NH and have never heard of Fast Day - what is that?

Dotti - my kids spring break is the last week in April, it is always the same every year. Last week of Feb. and last week of April for vacations.

We have that same week off in April also, here in CT, it was changed to that because of some state testing or something. I like the NH schedule, last week of February and last week of April, how nice that would be to not travel peak times!!!!

We send our two boys to private school. They don't have a Feb. nor April break. Instead they get two weeks in March, so we'll be there the 16th to 27th in a VWL 2br.

Our break in CT is April 19-23, and we will be in a 1-bedrm at BCV! So happy to be off peak and getting better points usage!

I live in NH and have never heard of Fast Day - what is that?

A day of fasting declared in the colonial days for a then ailing colonial governor of NH. Sort of an unofficial state holiday. We had it as a paid holiday when I worked for a local NH PD (back in the early 1980's). Course we had to work, but got paid double time and a half to work.

As a Mainer living in exile here in the deep South I recall that we also celebrated Patriots Day. I do not recall whether we got the day off tho, but I think Spring vacation is scheduled then. Any still resident Mainers who can clarify this for me, cuz I'm feelin' "numb as a hake", as we say.

But then, with 1.3mm residents, Mainers don't exert the same kind of pressure on vacation facilites the way that MA and CT do (with maybe 11mm between the two). And being so polite and considerate the way we Mainers are, we hardly take up any space anyway

We're in Burlington, CT and our vacation is 19-23. We'll be in a 1bdr at VWL!!!

Maine has April vacation from the 19th - 23rd. We plan to be in Orlando as well. We do not have enough points (6 left) for DVC this spring.
We are using one of our other condominiums in an exchange for an Orlando timeshare (Marriott Grande Vista). After the long winters here in Northern Maine (Caribou) we need some warm weather to unthaw.

My child attends a private parochial school so we get Holy Thursday, Good Friday, all of Easter Week and all of the following week off! We'll be at VWL in 1BR Easter week and on the Disney Cruise the following week! I can feel the sunshine now! Bring it on!

We have off and we will be at BCV from the 18th to the 24th! There is a conflict with baseball this year - he will be playing JV and their games start in early April, but these plans were made a while ago. We are going with my parents. I had originally booked Feb vacation week, but changed it to April. Yesterday I tried to change it back, but to no avail. That's okay. Stevie (DS) doesn't mind and I'm thrilled that it may not be as crowded as February, which is when we have always gone!

I wonder what my chances are for getting a studio SV at the BWV from Sat to Thurs during our Spring Break in MA??

I was going to go to WDW the last week in August and was in the process of booking it this week when the airfare for April just went down quite a bit. I'm considering switching but it all depends on DVC availability. I asked on another board which they would choose and they all chose April in regards to weather and a toss up on crowds.

I can't wait for tomorrow morning at 9:00a! Of course, I'll check airfare one last time before I book!

Any opinions?

As Of last Thursday, Member services told me they had plenty of availability from wednsday on, ( thats like the 25th on) Sorry I did not inquire about the first half.

When I booked two weeks ago, I was told there was availability at all the resorts. Good luck!

Beattyfamily, where are you flying from? I paid way too much for my tickets this time (Song, out of Logan), but I wanted non-stop, and I'm actually flying the Tuesday evening before the vacation week. My youngest son is in a Catholic high school and there's a teacher conference conveniently scheduled for Wednesday through Friday. Works for me!

I can't wait for tomorrow morning! First I'll check and make sure the airfare didn't go up...then I'll call DVC and check availability and then if there IS availability, I'll book it and then run over to Song and book that!

I had to fool around with my dates but if I leave that Saturday (17) and return Thursday, the rate is $200. Any other day would make it between $237 and $322.!
