This was our 3rd trip on the Magic. Of course the dining staff and room host were outstanding. I guess taking the airlines expense out of the equation brought on board alot of people who didn't know cruising etiquette. There was alot of shocking behavior in the dining rooms. I guess formal night meant putting on a clean black t-shirt. No one paid attention to the quiet cove age limit..kids were at the tables. I think the staff was shell shocked at the screamers who were very demanding and rude. I had the opportunity to have some conversations with fellow cruisers who had the same opinion and even some staff who were very unhappy. Sad to say but the atmosphere was less than Magic. I would never want to deny children having a Disney experience but the PARENTS!!! Teenagers hanging out in the aft elevation areas making noise and rude comments. Thank goodness it was only 5 days. I hope they never use New York again! I can say this without malice because I am a New Yorker....very embarrassed by some peoples attitudes and behaviors.

:wave2: Sorry you had a bad cruise! I hear there were issues with rude passengers and such on the 2 night cruise to no where as well.

Since you have sailed on the Magic before, you know the "usual" way things go onboard, which is good! Nothing worse than having a bad first experience.

What did you enjoy about the trip? Where in NY are you from? Did you drive in or take a car/limo? NYC is super-convenient, but we don't enjoy driving in NYC. I am hoping maybe for a Baltimore cruise next!!

Again, sorry it was so terrible. Hopefully your next cruise will capture the wonder and magic you should have had this trip!!

We are sailing Sept.12th

Our first kidless cruise ever.

We are excited but I think I will miss our 2 grandbabies whenever I see a toddler roaming the ship.

Just got back from our 1st kidless cruise and are getting ready for our Canada cruise next month-here's hoping that was just an off cruise and everyone will have a wonderful time!

I was on the Magic in June and 2 nasty little WITCHES were hanging out in shutters going around to all the photos and making comments like "only a face a mother could love," "who would let her out of the house," "what a cow," and well you get the idea, but it wasn't just adults they were talking about but 5 or 6 year old little girls!!! I was livid! Who raised these girls?!? :furious:

WOW. Unbelievable!

On our cruise when we were about to meet Belle, two teenage girls were standing right behind us and said very loudly "She doesn't even look like Belle" and laughed. Where is the Magic? My daughter still believes, (I think!!) and I thought that was rude and uncalled for. There were alot of smaller kids around too. It made me MAD!! :furious:

Wow, thanks for the warning. I was kind of excited that the ship was departing from NY. It's a shorter, less costly flight from Chicago. But I think I'll pass this time.

You have a lot more patience than i do. I dont even have kids and I would've said something to that little witch. Same thing with the kids at shutters..

Well, I think it can happen no matter where you go. We had a young girl who hung out with my DD last year at the EDGE on our Alaskan Cruise. She followed my DD back to the room (we had a category 5B or something like that-with a verandah) and she followed my DD in the room and looked around and said this is it, where do you sleep? Really!? Yes, she was staying in the Walt Disney Suite and apparently never had to slum it in a category 5B before:lmao:

Needless to say, DD never hung out with her again!

We are thinking of doing the September 12th cruise just ourselves, no kids, they will be back in College. We were on the May 25th Bahama cruise and it was fabulous!!
I saw that the inside cabins are down to $500...that is too good to pass up!!!
Hopeing it happens!!!

The cruise industry is changing, and a lot of things us long time cruisers (32 years here) are finding some of the things we liked about cruising, are not popular anymore.
My first cruise, suit and tie were casual wear in the dining room, and tuxes were required on formal night. And there were no casual dining options in those days. It's not wrong, just different now, and given that there are casual dining options now, it would be nice if those who don't want a traditional cruise dining experience, and want to wear Tee shirts, would use the casual dining options.
Cruises are much more affordable now, but the cost of running the ship is the same, so now cruise lines really have to do the hard sell on excursions and other extras to make any money.......I do miss the days before "Gold by the Inch", Art auctions, and "Shopping talks" existed on every ship,
And I miss name entertainment. Okay, Mickey and the gang may be stars, and may be around the ship, but I miss seeing the singer or comedian that I saw on the Tonight Show or Letterman perform on the ship, and rubbing elbows with them for a week on the ship.

We were on the June 17th Magic Cruise to Canada. We were having dinner in Palo with with our friends. Excellent meal!! Sadly, a group had decided to become loud at the end of their meal. They were even dropping f-bombs rather loudly. Then someone came in with a child and sat them at the table. The staff were huddled, deciding how to handle it. One from the group noticed and said towards the staff, loud enough for everyone to hear, "If you want her out, you'll have to take her out!" Before I had had enough, they made the wise choice to leave Palo.

Some people just feel that the rules do not apply to them. Sad really.

Once they were gone, the atmosphere at Palo returned to what we are accustomed to and we enjoyed the remainder of our meal and company. :goodvibes
