I’m not surprised - it’s a long & convoluted path, not only do they have to consider when the resale points were purchased but they also have to look at what the minimum number of direct points to qualify for membership was for those w/ mixed direct/resale memberships. Not that I’m excusing
DVC for their abysmal roll out of the digital cards - after all they created the monster.
There have historically been several sets of restrictions imposed on resale buyers.
Originally resale purchasers were treated exactly the same as direct buyers,
3/21/2011 - DVC limited resale points by barring their use for cruises & other exchanges w/in the Disney universe. Anyone w/ resale points purchased before that date kept those benefits - they were grandfathered in.
4/14/2016 - DVC made resale points ineligible for perks like discounts, access to DVC lounges, etc.. Anyone w/ resale points purchased before that date were grandfathered in & kept their blue card status. Hence the origin of the term ‘white card.’ During that era, though, you just had to buy 25 direct points & viola you attained ‘blue card’ status.
1/19/2019 - the Riviera resale restriction started - any resale points purchased after that date at the original 14 resorts could not be used at Riviera & any Riviera points purchased resale could not be used anywhere except Riviera.
