New DVC Promotion

The resale prices are controlled by Disney try and get a BCV resale past ROFR at 80 or less per point it isnt gonna make it

My second point is my neighbor bought SS at 98 per point in Dec and gave us as a referal after the contract was signed and was told that it was to late for a referal when she got home and told us we called our guide and complained that the referal not being mentioned right away was a lame excuse to not give us the referral bonus and he told us that if she had mentioned it earlier she would have paid 83 per point instead of 98

Third I have seen threads on this board that people talked about the great savings of a resale when they could have gotten the friends and family for almost the same price and get the extra years with it

So i would say that they were selling quite a bit at full price even with the promotion going on and In the fine tradition of Disney they do not offer a discount unless you have specific knowledge of it and ask for it

tor I agree with much of your post, but in your third point, I believe you may be forgetting the value of owning where you want to stay. I have bought several sold-out resorts (both resale via TTS and through Disney) because of a family desire to stay AT THAT SPECIFIC resort at a hard to book time. I could have gotten a longer life, cheaper and easier new sale at SSR, but didn't, because that wasn't what I wanted. Now, unless any super value deal appears for a sold out resort, I'm gonna wait and buy at the CRV (I hope) or SSR because of the extra 12 years, and the fact that I have enough points to stay where and when I want to!

Just another perspective!

I should have been more clear in my third point I was not including those with the irrational desire to own a specific resort I was only talking about first time buyers that appeared to only be looking for a cheaper alternative to buying from Disney directly but in reality due to lack of knowledge were buying at the same or higher price than FF and also not getting the extra years.

It was like the priceline effect where people tell you what a great deal they get on a flight or car rental with pick you own price but you know you got a Ding for at least half what they paid. Ignorrance is bliss

I would not be surprsied for Disney to work the price up over $100 and then offer a discount to close out SSR. But I bet the discount will disappear pretty quick if they announce a monorail resort since they know it will be in high demand. They would like to get the non discount price high enough so it does not look like the price jumped so high when they announce it (if it ever happens).

Disney may wait to sell out or nearly sell out SSR before an official announcement of the next DVC resort. I would guess they must be getting closer to a sellout, because there were many buyers with the F&F deal. I'm not sure what might be left to sell. I could be wrong, but that would make more sense(delay the other announcement) than trying to sell both resorts for the same per point cost at the same time, short of a discount for SSR.

I have heard that SSR will probably not sell out until early 2007. A new DVC resort will probably not be known until late 2006 and it will probably take one - two years to build.
