New DVC perks at Disneyland California

I've also heard that they have put together something at the DL hotel for prospective members to tour when you make an appt. at one of the carts.

They;ve "converted" part of an office building near the Disneyland Hotel as a preview center. the downside is that there are no models to tour there and no plans for full models. They just have 3-D doll house type models for people to see.

Guess I would be one of the crazys then = if I had had ressies for GC because I would have switched in a heartbeat. We stayed at both in 2001 and the DLH room beat the GC one hands down. The one at GC was just big enough to fit the two beds and a single roll up mat and sleeping bag (their answer to a rollaway bed) which you had to get into by crawling in the end because there was no room between the bed and the mat or the wall and the mat.
The room overlooked the front entrance roof and there was a very small fridge that had room for a couple of sodas if you left all the stuff in that they stocked it with. If you took it out you got charged. The DLH room overlooked the pool, had a day bed, small refrigerator , wet bar and plenty of floor space. We could also lean out a little and watch the weddings going on in the gazebo. I didn't even consider the GC this time- just booked DLH as soon as I heard the points were down. Wouldn't mind trying PP some time also. As always it is so nice that there are different styles to meet the different desires and needs of everyone who goes to Disney.

If you have Disney Visa, they are offering 20% off restaurants and other discounts , just go to the DV website and you can get the info ;)

then if we get a discount & get to use less for points thru DVC that is even sweeter :teeth: but i wonder how long is it going to last

Actually, it's 20% off select tours and 10% off select restaurants and merchandise.

I just got back from a quick visit to DLR...there are FIVE carts set up, (beginning to look a little like WDW ;) ). Talked with a couple of the DVC reps, they said that there is hope of a resort opening near Disneyland Resort, it's a matter of finding some property (good luck on that one :rotfl: ). Also, it will depend on how well DVC does out in California. If the points sell like crazy and the interest is there, well...we'll have to wait and see! I didn't get over to the "preview" center, which is in the Disneyland Hotel complex, but it sounds like the focus is on the Concierge Club collection, not so much on the DVC resorts. I picked up a couple of DVC Saratoga Springs buttons.
