If we are not staying at our Home resort or any other Dvc resort but are staying on Disney grounds are we allowed to use DVC resort pools?

Thanks

Pool hopping privileges are reserved for DVC members staying on points. So if you're paying cash, no you can't pool hop. Same as free Internet - points stays only.

I own another timeshare not DVC and we are allowed as owners to visit our resort anytime and use the pool and such, but you are saying that this isn't allowed as an owner of DVC resorts. I wonder why that is? since I paid as much for my DVC ownership as I did for my other timeshare ownership actually I probally paid more for my DVC.

Ok just thought I'd check our kids were asking what the AKV 's pool looked liked and I was thinking we could visit and they could use the pool while we were staying at Disney during "free dining" promo.

nope.

the pool hopping perk only applies for stays at a DVC resort on points.

Whenever you are staying on your Membership at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, Disney's Beach Club Villas, Disney's BoardWalk Villas, Disney's Old Key West Resort, Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney's Vero Beach Resort, or The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, you and any Guests staying with you, are permitted to use most of the other Disney Vacation Club and Walt Disney World® Resort hotel pools (in addition to the pool at the resort hotel at which you are staying) if they are not at capacity.

you would not be able to pool hop to AKV even if you were staying at a DVC resort (other than AKV) on pts. it is blocked all the time and always has been to my knowledge.

some timeshares allow "day use" by owners. DVC does not and never has. it is a different situation.

maybe you don't mean it this way but i'm awfully tired of hearing about DVC owners who pitch a fit to CMs at wdw about how much they paid for DVC and how they deserve to be catered to as VIPs. i don't want to be associated with that kind of foolishness.

buying DVC guarantees you certain things, specified in the contract. if you spent thousands of dollars on DVC and don't know the difference between what you are guaranteed and what you think you deserve, that doesn't reflect well on you.

DVC guarantees you the opportunity to stay at your home DVC resort for a discounted rate if you book early enough. the other perks are nice but they can come and go. if you want exclusive VIP treatment, disney offers other programs which may suit you better than DVC.

No one - DVC Member or not, staying on points or cash - is EVER allowed to pool hop to either of the Animal Kingdom Lodge/Kidani Village pools. Or BLT or BC/YC for that matter.

Those pools are off limits to all but registered, KTTW-holding guests staying at that property.

Yes, they do regularly check cards. And yes, I saw guests removed from the Kidani pool 3 different days on our trip in July. It looked embarassing - it wasn't done all that discreetly. People clapped.

This info is listed on the DVC Member website, as well as Disney Files magazine for Members. You may want to keep it handy on your trip.

I have also seen this information listed on the information sheet you receive upon check-in (but I've only seen it at DVC resorts - it may not be listed at your resort).

No problem, I knew you guys would know the answer. And no I do not think I should have a whole lot of access to Disney properities because I'm a DVC member I just was thinking since my regular old timeshare allowed this DVC might but I can see how it would run into a space problem with Disney being so busy most of the year.

So thanks for all the info....

It is confusing. When you start getting the Disney Files magazine there is always a section in there about the specifics of pool hopping, where you can go, where you can't and when it is blocked out.

You can also find the info on the member website.

Bascially all pools at AKL/Kidani Village, Bay Lake Towers, and Beach Club Villas, are off limits always.

Other pools are available, one should always check with the resort to make sure they have the space. And yes you have to be staying at a DVC resort on points to get this perk.

Except cash stays through member services. They are treated as member stays.

Maybe one of the reasons you paid more for DVC than your other timeshare, is they protect the rights of us member and their resort guests, so that when you are staying at a resort such as AKV you will be able to fully enjoy the pool and not have it overrun with outsiders who don't belong there. Imagine if you couldn't use the pool because it was at capacity from people not even staying there. I'll bet you'd be p....d off.

My home resort is BCV, if I ever went down to SAB and was told I couldn't enter because a large group of guests had come over from various resorts, all hell would break loose.

Agreed, which is the very reason I think they should stop pool hopping to nonDVC resorts, imagine how the guests at the Polynesian feel when their pool stays so crowded.
