New DVC Member - Help me plan trip in Oct 07

We just returned from our first family Disney vacation and purchased into the DVC. My hubby and I are now considering a getaway (just the two of us) in Oct., and then we'll do the family thing next June (2008). We are at the AKL and plan to book that for the family trip.

Question for you all - where should Hubby and I stay in October, and can we expect to find good accomodations now that it's less than 5 months away? I'm leaning toward DWL (is that the right abbreviation for Wilderness Lodge?) but would love to hear your thoughts. This is all very new to me.

Since October is a very busy time for DVC, I'd try calling MS and see what they have available and then jump on it. Most likely, there won't be much available (if anything) at BCV or BWV because of Food & Wine. VWL, being one of the smaller DVC's might or might not have anything. Right now, best likelihood of availbility would be SSR or OKW. Since you will have a booking advantage at AKL, you might want to be on the phone with MS at 9:00 AM on 5/16 to try to get something there if you don't have luck with the other resorts.

What about mid-November (well before Thanksgiving)? Do you think it's more likely to get something then?

The only way to know is to call MS and ask.

You can always book your trip and waitlist another resort for the same date. There is always a possibility that it will come through. I had it happen last year for Boardwalk Villas during Food and Wine. Good Luck! Ask Member Services what your options are, they will be more than glad to walk you through the process.
