Why do you say this? We seem to a pretty good job at aircraft carriers and other naval vessels. The reason all of the major cruise ships are built overseas is because the cost not capability and quality.

Agree there's no problem with aamerican labor, just that everything seem's to come from oversea's. So being that no ship's will be built in the USA, the Jones act seems to hurt more then it helps. Sorry if it sounds like a slam to the USA, quite the opposit

Boats built in the U.S., manned by U.S. crews, and that don't leave U.S. waters - man, there HAS to be a punch-line in here somewhere that ends with the "Jungle Cruise", "Pirates of the Caribbean" or some such.

Just in case people haven't seen this link yet, it was published in the Star-Advertiser that Disney has tentative bookings at the Honolulu Harbor for 2012. This does not mean that they will definitely bring some ships over, but just FYI, for a few seasons out of the year, my library in Lahaina is flooded with people who sign up for those 14-night cruises from the West Coast to Honolulu and back (which stop in Ensenada to satisfy the international port), so I could see Disney doing a few cruises of that variety, since the Repo cruises seem to be beloved by many ...
