I received the new Disney add on incentive... Castle to Castle and it doesn't make sense. Why restrict someone to have 2 annual passes for DW and 2 for DL? Why not give someone the choice to take all the passes at one location or split them up if they choose. It would be a greater incentive and they would sell more points if they did. I have been working with people for years and one thing that I have learned is that people do not like to be restricted. A little wisdom would go a long way in this incentive and work for everyones benefit.

I suppose you could ask your Guide if you could mix and match the passes. But if I'm not mistaken, the cost of a DL AP is less than that of a WDW AP. Getting 4 WDW AP is more costly than 4 DL Ap, so I can understand why Disney has restricted the offer. Furthermore, perhaps Disney is making this offer to entice people to visit both WDW and DL, thus increasing business at both destinations.

I agree with you that people don't like to be restricted, but I don't think it applies in this case. First of all, no one is forcing people to accept this offer. If someone doesn't like the terms, then they can refuse the offer. Also, remember that buyers who choose NOT to accept the APs get a cash incentive off the price of the points. So, a buyer can decide between getting the APs, or paying less per point for an add-on contract.

To me, it makes sense. The promo is called Castle to Castle. Meaning, Sleeping Beauty Castle to Cinderella Castle (or vice versa). Both. And to me, giving APs to two parks is the least restrictive thing they could do.

Now...one hopes that the APs don't expire if you don't use them, because frankly I don't need an AP to both places inside of ONE year.

But other than that, it makes sense to me. (and I got the mailing too)

it makes sense to give CHANCE to visit both parks.

if financing, make monthly loan installments and be in good standing on their Add On for up to fourteen (14) months (based on down payment and length of loan) BEFORE receiving their two (2) Walt Disney World® Annual Pass ("WDW Pass") and two (2) Disneyland® Resort Premium Annual Passport ("DLR Pass") Exchange Certificates ("Certificate").

Original Certificates used to obtain a DLR Pass must be redeemed by June 30, 2011, at any Disneyland Resort ticket window. Each DLR Pass obtained through this program is valid for one year from the date the Certificate is redeemed.....Redeemed by date is mentioned 06/30/2011

Original Certificates used to obtain a WDW Pass may be redeemed at any time at any Walt Disney World Theme Park ticket window. Each WDW Pass obtained through this program is valid for one year from the date the Certificate is redeemed...No redeemed by date is mentioned

It makes some sense. If someone buys 100 points at VGC, they are likely to try out that resort. Since WDW has most of the other DVC resorts, it would be fairly easy to use VGC points (or their other points, since this is an add-on) to visit WDW.

Last night my wife was sad that we didn't wait :lmao:. We bought during the July promos at BLT, and there is no way we could have predicted this (or wanted to wait from a cost per point basis on the two resorts).

That's a good idea to check with your guide. On an earlier AP incentive (if you made a purchase through the DL sales office), they gave us our choice of WDW or DL. The DL pass was the more expensive Premium AP (DVC price $409), but we favored the WDW passes (DVC price $414.29) because they didn't expire. Maybe the guides have some flexibility.

It would be fun to go to both locations. I just think you should be able to choose.

Good news! I just talked to Ron, my Guide. He said that buyers can choose which passes they want. A buyer can have 4 passes in any combination he or she wants. Ron reminded me that the WDW passes are vouchers that have no expiration, so if you don't need them until 2011 or later, they will still be good. However, the DL passes have to be used by a certain date. Our Guide said that if a buyer doesn't want the passes, then you get $15 off per point.

So, nickspace, it looks like they are really trying to get you to do an add-on!!:lmao:

could I ask what the conditions of this add on are?? (ie is there a minimum number of points that you have to add on? Does it only relate to an add on at a particular resort?) - and is it open to all DVC members or just those who get the mailling??

The Castle-to-Castle promotion is open to all DVC members.

It applies to add-on purchases for only Grand Californian and Animal Kingdom. It does not apply to BLT or the "sold out" resorts. I'm not sure if SSR is included.

To qualify for the 4 passes, you need to add on a minimum of 100 points.

I suggest you call your Guide to get specific information.

Good luck!!

thanks ever so much for the quick reply :thumbsup2:thumbsup2- shame as I either wanted extra BLT points or a BCV add on - oh well!!;)

I really like this promo. We just bought Disneyland APs this past October and are planning to return trip to Disneyland in June 2010 and October 2010 staying at the GCV. :thumbsup2 My evil plan pirate: is to plant the GCV add-on seed well before we stay there in June. I would love for this promo to continue. It would work well for our WDW Dec 2011 trip and allow us another Disneyland trip in early 2011. :woohoo:

On one of the podcasts I thought the team said that a WDW annual pass is accepted for admission to DL. Does anyone know if this is true?
