HI -
Our oven is broken so we decided to renovate our kitchen. always wanted a commercial type range but don't have the space or the money for that. want to get a dual fuel range or it can be built in cook top and separate built in oven (that is what we have now). Looking at a kitchen aid 30" slide in that is around $2600. Does anyone have this brand? I read mixed reviews about kitchen aid or do you have a dual fuel that you really love.
also thinking about the GE profile that is two ovens in one. Want to keep it under $3000.

We had a dual fuel GE Profile that was awesome. However, at this point it was several years ago and that model is no longer being made. The gas cooktop was very effective and could boil a very large pot of water quickly and the electric oven was fast to heat up and very accurate.

not dual fuel but I love my kitchenaid. ours runs on natural gas (never have been able to master cooking on an electric stovetop) and has the double oven feature. we primarily use the smaller top oven (so saves on operating costs) but the larger lower oven is great (the convection feature is a dream).

I just bought a Samsung dual fuel 30 inch gas range/convection oven. I love love love it! Got it on a great sale at Home Depot for $1800.

My sister is a wonderful "amateur gourmet" cook. Has a bookshelf full of books, and has created wonderful meals for all. When she remodeled her modest-sized kitchen, the one thing she insisted on was the best stove/range she could afford. For her that meant a quality, reliable oven and gas stovetop burners with high BTUs, for max cooking efficiency. She studied lots of makes and models. Can't remember what she bought, but it wasn't a Home Depot sort of brand. It was less than $5k but considerably more than the usual brands. I'm just mentioning here that you might want to look at and compare BTU output of various gas stove tops you're considering. It can make quite a difference in your stovetop cooking.

I researched my model on Consumer Reports and online reviews. I picked mine because it had the high BTU burners and the griddle option. My model is one step below the gourmet line but much less expensive. Definitely take all options that you want into consideration. I swear buying a stove is worse than a car! So many options and brands!

Love my dual fuel range. Had it almost 10 years. But I work at a GE appliance factory (soon to be Electrolux:sad1:) that builds them, or used to build them, so I got a oh so fab deal on one.

Thanks everyone! Still not sure what to do. Know I def want dual fuel. I did online chat with kitchen aid do ask them the interior dimensions of the oven in the range i am looking at and they weren't able to tell me :confused3 Wondering if their customer service is lacking.

Look at brands you think might be out of reach. It might be just a little bit of a bump more than you want to spend, but you could be amazed every day you work in your kitchen. The big brands might not be as out of reach as you think, and when you consider the quality, the fact that they rarely need to be serviced and last for 40+ years, it's worthwhile. (I am a Viking owner, they are amazing!)

I spend some time on the Houzz forum (in the building a home part, or kitchen) and a lot of people said they wished they would have gone full induction instead of dual fuel. They all pretty much agreed that induction is better than gas. I hope to have a slide in induction range in our new house when we plan to build next spring (which comes standard with a gas range)...I thought I wanted gas but now I know I definitely don't after researching. That's not to say you shouldn't get dual fuel, it may work out for you.

Shop the high end appliance dealers and Home Depot and Lowes. When we redid our kitchen our Designer pointed out if you are looking for features, there is a lot of cross over between the top of the line at the big box stores and the lower end of the High End Appliance stores. Look features first.
We ended up keeping what we had.
My hat is off to anyone who can cook with gas, I lived with a gas stove for 3 years and discovered even the lowest setting burned my food. Just never figured it out and that was on a commercial stove/oven/griddle combo that was about 50 years old.

I have a Bosch Dual Fuel about 10 years now. I like it. The only thing that bothers me from time to time is the "noise" the electric oven makes. We have a small house that's an open floor plan so I can always hear it. One thing we were not aware of when we got it, we needed "more power" to be plugged in. Not certain of numbers but know the standard was not enough. Had to get electrician.

My range required a gas hook up (approx $450 for the plumber) and a 110 outlet ($100 for the electrician).

Stay away from Kitchen Aid! I just had them buy back my range because it was a fire hazard. How long did it take?! A whole year! I reported the issue the very day of delivery and it should have been replaced but they stalled and stalled and stalled. they have terrible customer service and slow repair time. Like a year slow. The fridge I got wasn't working they sent another and that one was dented all up the side. They still hadn't sent a new one a year later. If you want a nice duel fuel and are getting a few other items go with bosch. They have the best rebates that bring down cost and have great customer service. I have a bosch now and love it and the quality is so much better than my kitchen aid. The kitchen aid actually had grey plastic to look like stainless and It and cost more than my Bosch. I know lowes carries Bosch.the appliance store I originaly purchased my KA package from really pushed that brand and loved it but are slowly not carrying the products anymore due to so many issues.
Also Bosch is made by Thermadore or vice versa so it's quality. That being said, no matter the brand 25% of all appliances will need to be serviced in the first year. Just keep that in mind when yi purchase and make sure they have a good service department should you need it

Your house probably was set up only for a gas stove. Electric stoves need a 220 outlet instead of the normal 110 outlet. Electric water heaters are 220, as are electric dryers and spas.

Thanks for all the replies! We decided on the Bosch Dual Fuel, We already have 220 since we currently have electric oven and cook top. Luckily when we built our hosue they plumbed in the gas in case we ever decided on a gas range.
