Hi,
Love reading everyone's recommendations on here!! Now it's time to update and personalize my new Droid 2!!! Any great ideas on Free apps for my new little phone? lol!! Trip to the World in April, so I'll need a few of the Disney apps, but other than that I love being organized!!! (Also into crafts, cooking and of course couponing!!). IF anyone's got great apps for me to try, I'd love it! :-)

I have the WDW wait time app from Undercover Tourist.

I also have the CardStar app. This one allows you to put in all of your membership numbers (you know, those little key tag cards that you flash at the store to get a discount or rewards). Then you just flash your phone at them and then can scan it and recognize your member number.

oooo-I like that CardStar app!!! I'm gonna bookmark this thread! I just got a new Droid 2 too! I keep telling people I'm not smart enough for my 'smart phone.' lol!

Btw, I love Pandora and their free music. Lots of people already know about it but just in case.

When are they going to come out with a DIS app? I have one on my ipod touch and really want one for my android phone.

What does the iPod DIS app do? I might want it for my iTouch?

Just quick (portable )access to the DIS boards. You can access them online but the app makes it so much quicker and easier and it was free.

I recommend the UT app WDW wait times by Phunware and of course your Disney Vacation countdown app. As for coupons I like "the coupons app" and I like using Grocery iQ for my weekly shopping.

Angry Birds-great game
calendar-don't know if it has a special name but it's white with a blue squiggle
flashlight- has come in handy
Southwest -was handy for checking in
maps- is good too but I think it come in the Sprint package
colornotes-handy for short lists for the store

I love my new phone, eventhough my daughter said I'd be too frustrated since I'm older (54) Haven't been frustrated and use more data than she does!

Apps that I use a lot are Our Groceries (syncs with my husband's phone so he can add things or use it at the store, and there is also a website for my son to add items to the list because he doesn't have a cell phone), Digital Recipe Sidekick (imports recipes from allrecipes.com and you can add you own as well; it will read out the recipe ingredients & steps to you), Droidlight (uses the phone flash - really bright!), My Fitness Pal for keeping track of food intake, weight, etc.

Looking at my DroidX, a few of the most used apps I have are:

  • TipNSplit Tip Calculator - figuring tips when dinning out
  • Barcode Scanner - pair with Google Shopper for price comparison while shopping
  • Disney World Lines - requires subscription but a good WDW lines app
  • Chase Mobile - spiffy app to check balances. Lets you deposit checks to your Chase account by taking photos of it
  • Final Countdown - add a countdown clock to your home screen for next trip and date to make reservation
  • The Coupons App - list of coupons for national retailers
  • Lunch Break Task Free - a nice little To Do list app
  • XiiaLiver Lite - audio streaming app
  • Groupon - catch those daily deals
  • Car Cast Podcast Player - downloads and plays podcasts
  • Bible by LifeChurch - provides multiple versions of the Bible along with reading plans, discussion threads and more

Don't forget your Disney theme'd ringtone! :thumbsup2

I have a Droid 2 Global. Some of my favorites have already been mentioned but another one is ScoreMobile if you are at all into sports.

I also use TripCase (I travel frequently for business)
Facebook (of course!)
WordFeud (like Scrable)
Solitare (I like the Freecell game on it)
Nook (although not very often now that I have a Nook!)

I have Skype installed and will be trying it out on an upcoming trip to Singapore!

I am DEFINITELY going to be checking out that Our Groceries app. That sounds like a wonderful one!!!

I was trying to figure out how to get some type of Disney ringtone, but I haven't had any luck yet. Where do I find that?

I was trying to figure out how to get some type of Disney ringtone, but I haven't had any luck yet. Where do I find that?

Steps copied from here:

  1. Grab your favorite Disney MP3 that you want as a ringtone
  2. Plug your phone into a pc via the USB cable.
  3. Grab/drag the notification bar at the top of the phone down.
  4. Click on "USB Connected" and select "Mount"
  5. Now, using your PCs file browser, navigate to your phone. On windows, it will read "removable disk". Linux will be the same thing. I don't know Mac OS, but if you use mac, I am sure you will find it.
  6. Once you are in your phones SD card (removable disk), create a folder called "media".
  7. Enter the media folder.
  8. Create another folder called "audio".
  9. Enter the audio folder.
  10. Create three folders here. They will be called "alarms", "notifications", and "ringtones".

You are now all set up for custom tones. If you have MP3s you want to use, just drop them in their respective folders. notifications will display on your menu for gmail, text, system notifications, etc. ringtones will be displayed in your ringtones folder ( menu > settings > sound and display > Phone ringtone).

Love love love WordFeud!

Also like the Lines app from TouringPlans - it rocks! Used both the WDW and DL portions.

SparkPeople has a nice food & fitness log w/a complementary recipe app. AllRecipes has a dinner spinner app.

USAToday has a great news app, and so does the NYTimes, but they are going to start charging a subscription.

Camera360 is an awesome camera app w/really awesome effects.

The Weather Channel has a nice weather app.

Your local TV stations may have Android apps as well - I use two of my local stations and they are pretty good.

Mint.com has a nice budgeting app that syncs with your online account.

Cozi has a cool grocery list/calendar/to-do list app that also syncs with your online account. I like the photo display option on it.

If you use Google Chrome there is a Chrome to Phone app that will send a link directly to your phone.

The Ebay app is pretty cool too.

That's a good start!

Good luck!
