I have had this thought in my mind for some time now, I would love to know what everyone else thinks, I love the DP that WDW has it makes everything so easy, but I am stuck, yeah stuck in the middle. While I love the RDP I would like another option just because I think the DDP may be 2 much food, although I will try the DDP for the first time this year so I really cant say it is 2 much food. I am a person that likes 2 get my money's worth so with 3credits a day I could not dream of using them for a CS,I will do some signatures and mix things up so my son and I wont be eating everyday at 3TS. I would love to see a plan that offered the option of 2TS credits with those credits you could use them they way you like or 2TS and 1 CS that would have 2 be used as such!

You do have an option - don't get a dining plan, and purchase what you would like to purchase. If you want it prepaid, buy a Disney gift card in the amount you would like to spend on food.

If I were to get the DDP I would eat at a Signiture Restaurant for dinner every night and have a good TS breakfast. I don't think that would be to much food. I just can't justify the cost of the DDP, plus the cost of tipping.

If you want 2 TS and 1 CS per night, it already exists -- the DxDP. Nothing about DxDP says you have to use those meal credits on TS; in fact it is the most flexible of the plans in that regard because each credit can be used at any dining location.

Now, it isn't the best "value" to do so, but the plan pricing clearly assumes that most people will do some CS.

The various dining plans work best if they closely match the style of eating you want to do. Short of them implementing some form of ala carte or true "points" system, it's just too much hassle/overhead for them to define a half dozen different plans to cater to every possible need.

Well, I'm not sure. But I think that the basic dining plan needs to have 2 snacks instead of one. QS has 2, the deluxe plan has two... why not the Basic?

We like more TS than the standard DDP, but not enough to justify the DxDDP, and here's the solution I came up with:

We book what we want, then I go through and figure out (separately for the adults and kids, because it's often different) which ones are the best value on the DDP and which ones are the best value to pay out of pocket. For our two-week trips, we typically do about 4-5 extra TS credits/meals out of pocket, at a cost of about $300. If we had upgraded to DxDDP, it would have been well over $1000 extra.

The extra snack on the RDP would be cool but I have to agree w/ the Prev Poster. I simply checked the value of each meal :surfweb: and have decided that we would do 2-extra table service meals that we will pay OOP and use our TS credits for the others. :teacher:

Well thought out. Thinking about three TS meals per day is a bit much, and when you could be doing TS and use the credits or CS anyway, it lacks financial sense. But neither do I think there needs to be another dining plan option necessarily. Some people would always want something a little different.

I also like the suggestion of just putting budgeted money on a Disney gift card. So often I hear the reason people get DDP is just so that meals are prepaid - a gift card would accomplish this!
