..took a wrong turn at night and ended up at Epcot's parking lot long after close. (Man, that's a big area when there are no cars in it!) So I drove out trying to follow the signs like any direction...

Been there - done that!!!!! Felt like a total idiot........

Back from Dubuque. Wanted to post photos of the balloon glow at night but for some reason, WM's photo machine generated my photos but did not burn a CD. So I may have to start all over again to get the dog-gone CD another day.

Happy belated birthday, Mouseteacher!!! Sorry I missed it.

Zurgswife - if it is diabetes, it is not the horror story it used to be. I have lived with it for 20 years (in December), have successfully borne 2 children (that used to be a near impossibility for a diabetic mom!), and have no side effects relating to circulation, vision (except the over 40 part - go figure!), etc. Be strong - the hardest part will be the syringes for the injections, but they may use a pump right away. Even the last few years insulins have improved drastically. I use Humalog/Novolog & Lantus. Nice short term and level long-term. No sudden drops in the middle of the nite anymore.....I can exercise without having my bloodsugar crash on me. Such a dramatic change from just a couple of years ago even.

Tried to change my ressies - now Universal tells me Entertainment rates will not be out until early December - AGH!!! Do I want to book the room now and then change it later? I don't think so - I can't afford to fully pre-pay one nights room right now!!!! So I called Swan to make sure I could bump my ressies out by one or two nights. No - can't do that - SwanDolphin booked my ressie and the gal was too scared to try to change it. Of course, SD's email addy is in my old PC which is stuck in the corner here so I need to get it booted back up and get the address. Some days things just do not go your way..........

TagFairy- Can I have a 'Love Ya, Mean it!' tag? I supposed I would have to give up another tag........I know enough not to toggle tags anymore....Maybe dump that one!

We definitely need that on the mug though.

Kind of quite this morning on the S/D thread! We are getting some rain here in new england today. No worries though as they are predicting 70 and sunny tomorrow. Glad to hear all is well with DF in S. Cali. I can only imagine the horror of those fires. My heart goes out to everyone affected by it.

On a sunnier note, we leave for WDW in 58 days! You may think that is a long time but time passes quickly for me as fall turns to winter. I have been very busy around my house as we have contractors here doing renovations. I am also doing early Christmas shopping at Kohls and TJ Maxx every chance i get. I am probably half done. Maybe i can avoid the xmas shopping crowds this year?!

ZW, sending PD and prayers!

Waving to Disbug, Hockeymom, Mouseteacher, Ozzie, DF, Lauren, MomPoppins, WW52, Loubon, Robmax and everyone else!

I am thinking my 120+ is not that far off but 58 that is right around the corner. :D The weather here is wonderful, going up to 85 today. It is going to be in the 80's here for the next week or so. I am planning on spending some time out by the pool before fall sets in.

ZW ~ Hugs and prayers to you and your family please update us when you can.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Zurgswife ~ Hugs and prayers to you and your family. I am glad they were able to find out what was wrong with your DS. I hope he gets to come home soon. This has been such a tough month for you, I hope things settle down soon. Your upcoming trip will hopefully provide some magical moments you and your family so much need and deserve. I will be praying for your family.

Wow - sorry to hear the diagnosis but glad that you are where you need to be right now (CHOP) and that your son will soon be feeling better and regulated. If any family needs a trip to the world, it's you guys! On the bright side, the kids' meds will all be straightened out by the time you get there and you will all be able to relax and enjoy yourselves.

** On Topic ** don't forget to request a refrig. for your meds when you are at the Dolphin. Hopefully it will be provided free of charge!

zurgswife--I'm glad your DS is getting the help he needs :) I'm proud of you for giving that first shot, I'm sure you'll be a pro in no time!

DF~ We are getting heavy soaking rains here. Everyone here at school is wishing we could send it to S. Cali. Prayers to all those in danger and to those who have lost their homes.

ZW~ I have had students who were insulin dependent - elementary age. They were quite adept at checking their sugar level and injecting themselves if necessary. We kept a supply of OJ and crackers. They seemed to know when their blood sugar was changing and came to the office to use their insulin kits or get some juice. They functioned well in school, on field trip, etc. Also, if they needed a snack before the scheduled snack/recess time, they just ate while at their desks working. No problem. Just a little story to let you know that things will be fine.

ZWife...this is for you.. Can't believe the month you have had. It makes all of us count our blessings each day. I know all will be well and you will be sure the kids are on their meds. Your WDW trip will be magical for all of you.

A sorority :wave2: to all!

ZW- Just be grateful they caught it and it is controllable. I can still remember when mine was diagnosed - my BS was 875!!! I can remember laying there and the DR telling my m, d & grandpa that he just didn't know if I would even make it. Well, there is one thing you don't do - piXX me off!!! DH hates hospitals - wouldn't even come in there. I am 4'11 and at the time I went in weighed about 83 pounds (totally dehydrated). My mom said I could have been a poster child for a concentration camp. I wish you all the best and hope things go very smoothly for him. He will learn as he grows (don't tell him these things!!!) that if he really wants a chocolate chip cookie, the adjusting in the insulin and the remaining food you eat is do-able!!! He just needs to be able to figure out ahead of time how each 'treat' that he indulges in will need to be offset with the insulin. You'll make it work - I have total faith in you!!!

Now that I have not been on topic at all........

I remember a few weeks ago, someone mentioning a Sharps container being available at Swan/Dolphin. Do you need to request these? Is there a fee? I hate hauling all of my used syringes home with me.

Love Ya, Mean it!!!

Can you guys help me? I called for a ressie for my spring break.
I asked about a Jr. Suite and was quoted an ap rate of $389
Does this sound right? I t did not sound right to me, The entertainment rate quoted was $340 how this could be less than ap is beyone me. I ended up with two rooms at the swan ap at 139, does that also sound correct. Also, can you give me the correct number I should be using, I'm not sure I'm calling the correct one.
Thankyou.

From MouseSavers.com

Annual Passholder Rates

The Swan and Dolphin sometimes offer discounts of 50% or more off to Walt Disney World Annual Passholders. The rate is as low as $139 for the rest of 2003, subject to availability. You'll also receive a FREE one-category upgrade on your room (purchase "standard" room and be upgraded to "lake view," for example). Taxes, resort service fee and gratuities not included. Not all dates available at this rate; blackout dates may apply.

To book, call (888) 828-8850 and ask for the MSAP rate.

I have a discount rate of 162.50 and a upgrade to lakeview for May 2004. Was happy with this, however when I went onto my SPG account, this is what I found. A comfirmed reservation for my dates at a rate of 138.50:) . This is a $24 difference. I phoned Swan/Dolphin reservations (this is who I made my ressie thru) and my rate is 162.50. I now phone SPG and they also have my rate at 162.50. Now SPG connects me to SPG internet help who now pulls up my file and sure enough it says 138.50. He tells me to print it out as it says this is my rate and take it with me to the front desk manager about honoring this quote. Can anyone tell me if I have a chance of having the 138.50 rate honored?:) :)

Thanks for any help you can give me.:)

Take that print-out with you! I think the rate will be honored since you have it in writing!

It seems the more people you "talk" to over the phone, the more the story changes!

When I stayed at the Dolphin recently, I could NOT upgrade to the CL level with points, UNLESS I would agree to switch my balcony room to a CL level room. This is what I was told at the front desk. However, when I came back I found others who had stayed on a different floor WITH CL privledges! (Huh??)

So, Good Luck to YOU! I'll bet it works out in your favor!!

Thanks for your quick response Disbug:sunny:
I would really love to get the better rate. I just didn't want to seem ungrateful, as I already have a discount with an upgrade. I will take it with me and hope for the best.
Wish me luck and throw in a little pixie dust.:sunny:

The only thing I can add is that when I had a jr suite at the Swan in Dec. (before renovations) I was quoted $289 for CL at the teacher's rate. Then they matched my diamond hilton card and I got platinum SPG, so I ended up paying $129 for a CL jr suite. "Suite" deal! Also remember that there is a $10 resort fee per day, that is not on your ressie amount. It is still better than most Disney deluxes.

Good Morning :wave2:

Does anyone know if I can use Cash and Points and still get an upgraded room with platinum SPG. I know some of the upgrade policies change at the first of the year. Thanks :)

Have a great day  :earsgirl: Have a great day
