Happy birthday, Mouseteacher!

Lou - "you can tell the difference by the statues on top" - don't laugh, but I needed that for navigation one night. (Don't ask.)

Okay, that's it! This birthday party is over now. As soon as people start needing landmarks to find their way home it is time to cut them off!!!!

Look at you ww52, what did you expect?

Laugh now but just wait until tomorrow morning........

On Topic: The swimming pools at the S&D have water in them. Unless of course my neighbor's kid has been in them as he as been known to......oh never mind.

Click to hear "The Happy Birthday Song" :teacher: DEDICATED TO MOUSETEACHER'S, UM... 29th BIRTHDAY! ::yes::

Fun Facts about
Happy Birthday to You

Happy Birthday to You, the four-line ditty was written as a classroom greeting in 1893 by two Louisville teachers, Mildred J. Hill, an authority on Negro spirituals, and Dr. Patty Smith Hill, professor emeritus of education at Columbia University.
The melody of the song Happy Birthday to You was composed by Mildred J. Hill, a schoolteacher born in Louisville, KY, on June 27, 1859. The song was first published in 1893, with the lyrics written by her sister, Patty Smith Hill, as "Good Morning To All."

SORRY, I MISSED IT MOUSETEACHER! HOPE IT WAS WONDERFUL!

Loubon~I'm so glad that the pools have water in them and hopefully your neighbor's kid will be nowhere around while I'm there!!
Looks like something has happened to the cross in my signature.
I'll have to find another when I have some time!

:D Thanks for all the birthday wishes. My DS gave me a card and signed it with "thank you so very much". I asked him what's the thank you for? He said... for being my mother. The best gift a mother could receive!!!

On topic: Yes, I'm glad the pools have water and the rooms have bathrooms. Thanks for the info!!!

*puts hand out* congrats Lou, your Rangers won! We had to win the game the night before against Dallas and we rested when we played you... yeah.. that's my story and I'm sticking with it!

Hope you had a wonderful birthday, Mouseteacher! I'd the birthday song in Polish, but I am clueless as to the spelling for any of the words!

On topic>> The Swan and Dolphin have a sorority dedicated to the sharing of great hotels, love of Disney and oatmeal soap for all! *laughing* How many hotels can say that?

Stay safe DF!

*waving to all my wonderful sorority sisters and honorary brothers*
Love ya, mean it!

:cutie: Happy Birthday belatedly, Mouseteacher! :p

I have never stayed at either S/D but was thinking about it for May 2004. With the great nurses rate this really seems hard to pass up!! Convince me stay here. What do you like about this resort. Tell me I can't go wrong staying here for 9 days. I would probably do a standard view room. I also have a fussy child who only seems to like chicken fingers!! Do they have them at the resort?? Thanks....any info would be greatly appreciated...

Staying at the Dolphin:) , Do I phone WDW Dining or the Swan/Dolphin for PS at Fresh?

Kaybee ~ Welcome to the S/D thread :) There are many reasons we love staying at these resorts. The first is location location location. You cannot beat it, Epcot and MGM are both very close to these resorts. The pool area is fantastic and big enough that it never seems crowded. There is a slide for the kiddos and the waterfall fantastic. Here is a website that list menus : http://www.wdwig.com/menu/menus.htm You should also go to www.starwood.com and sign up for their hotel program, you can obtain an upgraded room if available with 0 points. I hope this helps gets you started....

Lou - thanks for the picture. It wasn't as bad as all that; I took a wrong turn at night and ended up at Epcot's parking lot long after close. (Man, that's a big area when there are no cars in it!) So I drove out trying to follow the signs like any direction-challenged male would do, when I was reminded "just look for the statures. The Swan hotel has Swans on it, and the Dolphin hotel has some kind of fish". I tried to explain how the roads went and that just seeing the statues didn't tell me how to get there - when of course right then the turn came up and we were back. (OK - I'm no delswife when it comes to writing, but then - who is?)

Joanne - the plan is to be there over President's Day weekend; but we couldn't get rooms on that Thursday (Lincoln's b-day; being from Illinois didn't help either.) Now I'm concerned that the airfare flying on a Friday will be significan't higher (it was over the summer); with 5 of us that's a major consideration. So the trip is still tentative, but I'm optimistic.

DF - by the way, I assume the VW is all better now. I hope your daughter had no hesitation about driving again. Did I miss the pictures you were going to post, or is there still detailing work to be done?

On topic (really, Lou): I made our reservations through Dreams Unlimited on the web site for the first time. It's great in that they can check S/D availablity almost instantly - so we were able to play with various dates to see what was available using the teacher rate. A lot easier than holding for a reservationist, and we got the confirmation via email shortly after we booked. (Also - a rep from DU called the next day because I typed the CC number wrong; another indication that maybe I need to get my eyes checked.)

Big Hello to all...

Belated Bday to Mouseteacher...thought I posted one yesterday but I guess I never got around to it...hope you had a wonderful 29th again....:teeth: :teeth:

My DS gave me a card and signed it with "thank you so very much". I asked him what's the thank you for? He said... for being my mother. The best gift a mother could receive!!!

Much prettier cousin sits atop the hotel though....

OK....the little black rain cloud is insisting on staying over my house...doggie is all better, zurg the evil emperors back is improving everyday, DD we have changed her meds and she seems like a new person...it's only been a few days but much different.....now back to the Little black rain cloud....DS-Connor has gotten sick ....we got extensive blood work this am...hope to hear results this afternoon....he has all the symptoms of diabetes....but we won't know until the tests comeback...he is very fatigued.(basically doesn't like to move), thirst like I've never seen before, Thrush in his mouth, he has lost a few pounds will continueing to grow taller so his BWI has fallen into the underweight catagory, peeing all the time, complaining about his vision....OK I've played the worried mother long enough...hopefully this afternoon we will have more answers....as my baby lies like a blob onthe couch....

Love ya, Mean it...ZW

ZW - thanks for the dolphinfish explanation; I knew it was something like that.

I am so sorry to hear now about your son; you and your husband must be very strong people to keep rolling with all this. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mouseteacher Happy belated birthday! Everyone's saying you're 29, but I thought this was your 19th! I didn't realize you were 10 years my senior! :p

zurgswife Happy to hear your good news and sending out positive vibes so your not-so-good news will get better fast. As I'm sure you already know, if your ds does have diabetes, they are doing a great job of managing it these days.

Everyone My dh and I are just back from a weekend in New Orleans (which, btw, I highly recommend as a fantastic place to visit). Whilst there we stayed in a perfectly nice, comfortable, well located, amenity-laden hotel but, if we had had to stay there for more than the 3 nights of our trip, I would've been ultra-miserable. Despite all this hotel's pluses, it completely lacked atmosphere--and there are plenty of atmospheric hotels in New Orleans. This made me start worrying about our upcoming Swan trip in December. :(

You've probably already all seen my post from earlier today about Swan vs. AKL. Anyway, I must confess: I just called AKL. There are no rooms available for our dates at the AP rate. (Side note: The reservationist I spoke with was named Fifi!) I already feel like calling back again to see if anything's appeared in the last hour, but I'm 99% certain we're going to end up at the Swan. It seems the AP rates for the deluxe hotels are completely gone for the time of our upcoming December stay.

To all of you who have stayed at both AKL and the Swan--Are we going to be happy with our Swan room? I learned this weekend that "location" only thrills me so much. In the end, I like coming back to a hotel and particularly a room that feels "right."

Thanks to all of you from this disappointed Yankees fan, now in commiseration mode with all my fellow S/D Red Sox, Cubs, Giants, and Twins fans!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY TO THE GREATEST MOUSETEACHER IN THE WORLD!:teacher:

So much is going on around here...with the area surrounding us on FIRE. We're okay, but have several friends whom have had to vacate their homes. Also, our beloved LAKE ARROWHEAD area is in danger, and has been fully evacuated (ghost town). Reportedly, there is no power on the mountain community due to a melted transformer, and the fire has climbed to the edge of the "Rim of the World" High School. This am, the FD was busy lighting "Back fires" to try and thwart the fire's ascent. Hopefully, it will work. The Santa Ana's wreak havoc on fires, making it nearly impossible to contain/control them. Please, pray for all those involved.

Sure hope they catch the Arsonists responsible for these fires.

Bill~DD & her Beetle are both doing great (thanks for your concern). The custom spoiler was recently installed/attached (last weekend). I'll post some pictures soon.
::yes::

ZW....MY thoughts and prayers are with you. :goodvibes

***I am SO excited about our DOLPHIN STAY this coming summer. The prospect of actually MEETING some of you is heart-warming. I also look forward to all the NEW and EXCITING things happening in the MAGIC! I know I'll miss the old style of the suite, as we have enjoyed it for years. But...I'll embrace the NEW~~and make new memories in the fresh environment. I heard they will be starting to REPLACE the hallway carpet in the Swan soon. Then, the wallpaper will go, and the light fixtures will also be changed. So much work, but at least it's only once every 10 years! (LOL).
