NEW...DOLPHIN/SWAN..."questions and answers"...tips and hints!

Mompoppins! No wonder you are so stressed about this. Left the child on the playgrouond?? It sounds more like your child is being "left" in more ways than one. "Left out"? "Left to her own devices?" "Left alone?" What's next... left behind? God bless you, and I hope your year gets turned around quickly. Surely these people don't think they are "helping" Rachel by making her fearful? I'm glad you are wise enough to not let this go. Good for you, keep us posted. PD and P.

firstmickey~ read ALL your trip reports and they were great! Of course, you may be in the Sigma Delta! We are working on a siggie logo now...

Mompoppins,
I can't believe the stuff that is happening with your DD. I am sending prayers and PD your way that this is resolved in a self esteem promoting way for your DD. How terribly difficult this must be for her. Tell her we think she is very brave!

Donna

mompoppins....didn't you tell us that this is a "new" principal? Is this her first year as a principal? Parents around here would not hesitate to go straight to the superintendent! If I were you, I would keep track(like write down) all these incidents. May come in handy. My best to you and yours.

Hey Ozzie we must both be on-line at the same time. Yes you are correct she is a new principal. We are a very small town 660 pop. so we have about 40 to 50 kids per grade. I don't know where this principal came from, I did not even know the other one was leaving until the end of last year. Our old principal was a sweet older lady that had also attended Trenon schools years ago. To be honest Trenton schools are very known to hire "in house" so to speak. A lot of our teachers actually attended school here. I am not in the least upset that this lady is not from here, its just we are a small town and laid back and usually have no problems when we go and talk about a situation going on. The super did call her the next morning( she told me so) and that is why the change of thought on placement for Rachel. I tried to go through the proper channels first and gave this principal every oppurtunity to look at our problem, but she just would not even consider it. I knew from the start we could call the super and get it all resolved, but I did not want her to think I was just going above her without letting her work it out first. My husband knows the super very well, DH is on a board at school that deals with expansion and besides his family attend our church. At any rate I knew I could call him, but wanted to give the principal the benefit of the doubt first. I am sure this will all work out fine, I will let you know how our meeting at our house Monday goes. I thought a meeting here might be nice for Rachel to be in her own enviroment and let the principal get to know her better. I know I have gone on and on... sorry so long again.... Rachel is very worth it, and she is worth fighting for.... I won't give up until I know she is comfortable and taken care of :D

good for you, Mom Poppins! Your kids are very lucky to have you as their mom :)

I hope the meeting goes well on Monday!

Thanks all for viewing my pics - I was excited to be able to share - my family is a little bored with the annual Disney pictures! LOL ;)

Disbug - I have a Nikon Coolpix - it is only a 2.8 megapixel camera and I have been whining to get a new dig camera to dh. He promised that Christmas Santa would consider it strongly. There is a new Sony coming out that I have my eye on.

Okay Sigma Delta huh? I too would like to be part of the Charter please!

Disbug(& Hockeymom)...sorry I got mixed up on who was having the party and misunderstood about the jammies! Can I still join in? I promise I am able to run amuck with the best of them (away from the CL).

Mom Poppins...I totally sympathize with you about your DD. I'm sure Rachel will always remember you went to bat for her. Maybe she can get a "playground buddy" at recess to make sure she's aware when it's time to go in. I know my Elem. playground is a total zoo and NO ONE can hear what's going on half the time.

I know what it's like to have a hearing loss in a noisy environment. It is SOOO frustrating sometimes.

OK....I give up I've called SPG (who told me to call Swan/dolphin)...I called Swan/Dolphin (who told me to call SPG)...There isn't a way to get upgraded to CL privliges for a 2bdrm Exec Suite at the Dolphin....There aren't any 2bdrm Execs on CL, I'm not a Plat SPG, and nobody can figure out a dollar amount or Point cost to get me access to CL....I guess I'll just give up....

I can't wait for my stay at the Dolphin though don't get me wrong...just wanted to try CL..

;) To all those who CAN run amuck and wish to join the Sigma Delta (courtesy of ww52 suggestion) raise your hand! LOL :)

Mom Poppins ~ I am shaking my head in continued disbelief. Left on the playground!? Didn't the teacher realize she was not in the classroom!? Yikes! As a principal and former 2nd grade teacher, the most important element we set in our school is for young children (all children for that matter) is to feel safe, secure and cared for. Without this in place, children cannot learn b/c their anxiety levels can be elevated. This is in our mission statement and I expect the teachers and staff to make our school climate just that.

zurgswife~ DON'T give up - ask at check-in.

firstmickey ~ I enjoyed your trip reports, too. It is so relaxing in the evening to have a cup of coffee and read trip reports. It's a Calgon take me away moment! Takes me right to the World and I forget all the stressors of the day. :)

Mouseteacher, I can run amuck. I wish to join Sigma Delta!

DF, Wish your DD a Happy 16th BD for me!

Disbug, Wish your DD a Happy Birthday from me too!

Mom Poppins, sounds like you and your DH straighten things out at your DD's school. Sorry it took so much effort though.

Zurgwife, You don't have to be on CL to have CL privs. Keep trying and make it clear to them that you don't necessarly have to be right on the CL floor. It may increase your chances of getting this cleared up.

Muffy

No this round of phone calls I was specifically asking for CL privilages...not to be on CL floor...as those rooms I'm told don't exist at the Dolphin for a 2bdrm Exec....

I will try to ask at check-in but it is at the busy season Christmas so I'm not sure the chances will be good...

that darn Disney....no AP rates and just look at all the threads about the Swan/Dophin :) our secret's out for sure!

hmmm....Sigma Delta.....as long as I don't have to do any strange pranks to join, count me in :) Did the sorority rush thing 15 years ago, LOL...don't have the stamina to go through that again!

Glad everyone liked the Sigma Delta idea; though I'm not qualified to join (being of the male persuasion), think of it as my contribution to the board - in appreciation of all the things I learned from you about the Swan/Dolphin, Club Level, and Starwood points that made our recent vacation work out so well.

And seriously, if any of you are internet-savy (or any of your family members) you ought to think about starting your own web site. Not in competition to Pete, or course, but as a Swan/Dolphin fan site. You've all been the best (free) advertising that resort could ever have.

Male Persuasion?! Ladies, do we have a problem with ww52 joing the Sigma Delta - I think not! You're in, ww52!!!
Hmmm... our own website?!!! Thanks for the compliment.

madge, I agree- I've outgrown sorority pranks. :) However, a little giggling and acting younger than our ages doesn't sound too bad. ;)

Well, our talking about a trip to Disney is becoming more of a reality - budget seem to support a trip. Swan or Dolphin?... that is the question. So far the Swan is out in front. DBro and his family are right with us in the early, early "hoping to go to Disney next summer" phase. We had such a fun time last summer that it would be great if they could go with us again.

Mouseteacher -

Q: How should a man (over 50, at that) take being offered membership to a “sorority”?
A: In the friendly, Disney-like spirit in which it was offered.

However, while I appreciate the gesture, I think it’s best to keep it as a women’s “club”. (Though I’ll gladly take credit for coming up with the name!)

I’ll be interested in seeing if the Sigma Delta group meet materializes. That ought to be some trip report!

*hand raised* I can definitely run amuck! Or is that astray? LOL I am totally cracking up reading these posts! After the first week of school, too much of it spent REwalking the hallways properly, I can't believe I am saying I will RUN through the hallways! LOL BUT, this is for more ice, so we must do what we must do!

I vote ww52 in! Maybe we can find a pair of Mickey slippers for him? :)

Mompoppins>> LEFT HER OUTSIDE??????? What ever happened to a head count? I started counting heads in a rural school. I still count heads in an urban school. My fifth graders were just told yesterday that "You're never too old to be loved enough to make sure you make it back from the playground!" Please keep us posted! I pray this gets much better and your daughter begins to feel more comfortable this school year.

Good luck to everyone starting school on Monday!

*waving to the rest of the room and handing out ice cold beverages* IT IS FRIDAY!!!!!!!

Debbie
charter member of the S igma D elta <----------what a great tag line, Mouseteacher!
OHHHH OHHHH speaking of which.. anyone have an "in" with the tag faeries? We all need another tag! What color do you think our "membership" tags should be?

MomPoppins,

Reading your posts brought tears to my eyes. The thought of your little one being left on the playground and having so much to deal with is very troubling. I hope things get better for her very soon.

I have made a temporary insignia until this can be handed over to professionals ;) ... and if ozzie or someone can help me figure out how to post it, you will see it soon! Mind you it is only temporary!! (ozzie, sending PM about this!) Stay tuned!

Hi Everyone,

Well, after six days at the CBM I am finally at the Dolphin. We have a renovated room with a balcony on the 5th floor. We were able to get club access using points but needed to go thru a manager. We were told that they are not allowing club access unless you are on the 12th floor anymore. I will post pictures of the room soon.

Just a FYI if you are heading to WDW make sure to check out philarmagic near park closing. Last tuesday night we got to see it. It was awsome. I wasn't expecting to really like it, just another 3D movie right.....
WRONG !!!!
