NEW Dolphin questions -- thanks!

Hi, folks. We're planning to stay at the Dolphin next summer (2003) using the teacher discount. I have learned a great deal from this board, but I have several new questions:

1. I had planned to request an upper-floor room (thinking of the great view), but now I'm thinking of asking for a ground level, poolside room. We have two small children, so poolside would be very convenient.

If I reserve the "standard rate" room, what are the chances I could get a free upgrade to one of these locations during the first week in June? I can't decide whether to shell out the extra money or not.

2. Where are ice machines located? We plan to bring a cooler (instead of a refrigerator).

3. Can we use the Disney Club card to get a discount on food purchased at Tubby's?

someone might have more up to date info, but the last time I was at the S/D there were no rooms by the pool area...in fact, I'm not sure there are any rooms on the level that takes you to the pool. we have only stayed on upper floors, so I can't say with 100% certainty.

right now, the DC discount is a perk at tubbi's, but I don't know if it will be in 2003.

We were just recently at the Dolphin and I seem to recall rooms on the ground floor just to the right of the Spa (as you enter the Dolphin FROM the pool area). Mrs. Pete: why don't you pose your questions on Dreamflight 99's thread on the Swan/Dolphin - I'm sure the experts there can answer all your questions!

MrsPete: I think I gave you some incorrect info. I discussed the "rooms near the pool" question with my DH and DS and they both believed my memory was wrong - sorry! My DS thought there were ground level rooms visible from the pool area but he couldn't remember where they were located. Again I suggest you ask the experts on Dreamflight99's thread about the Swan/Dolphin...good luck!

There's a thread around here somewhere where somebody had a ground floor room, with a patio that exited right by the sandy beach area. They loved the location, and the fact that they could walk right out their sliders to the pool area.

I do remember seeing these rooms at the Dolphin as we were walking by on our way to the pool in February.

you learn something new every day we have stayed at the dolphin and the swan and never noticed rooms by the pool....I'll have to look for them next trip.
