Disney Tourist is saying that the new AAA 4 Diamond Resort will be in the heart of DTD where ESPN is, 700 rooms and 125 of those DVC with a projected open of 2021. Maybe this is common knowledge already but I’m thrilled although I thought I was done buying points. Yikes. At least there’s time to save.
Shall we guess what the ppp will be?
What it will do the VGC resales in lead up?
Effect on Riviera Sales if any?
Awesome to have another option at DLR!

Yes! Our guide at the DLR assured us it’s going to be amazing! Sad construction displaced our runDisney events, but hopefully it’ll go quickly and they’ll find a new location for the race festivities.

DTB reports it will be 125 units. How many units are there at the VGC? I hope this would make booking a room with points at the DLR a bit easier.

Thanks for sharing this exciting news! We've stayed at VGC three times over the past year. Loved it every time!

Totally agree. Hoping it makes it easier to get a DVC room at DL!

48 dedicated studios, with 23 2BR lock-offs that can be converted into more studios and 1 BRs. At most 94 units at VGC.

48 dedicated studios? I though less. How many dedicated 2b and grand villas?
So it looks it's still a small increase and given the demand probably people will buy there mostly to stay there. Unfortunately I don't think it's going to improve the situation at 7 months much.

There are no dedicated studios at VGC. There are 23 dedicated 2br's, 23 lockoff 2 br's (which equates to a combination of 23 1br's and 23 studios), and two 3br GV's.

Sorry if the information was incorrect. I was quoting it from DVCNews, I think. They have been pretty reputable in their reporting of numbers.

After checking, the website had the correct information, but I read it off by one line.

This information is correct. The 48 that I read was the minimum number of rooms, and a maximum of 71 if you break the lock-offs apart.
For the record, the site is showing only 2 GVs. Not sure if this makes much a difference to most of us though.

Does anyone think this will make VGC cheaper or more expensive is je next 4 years? I’m happy at VGC and that’s our only hole but a new shiny resort sounds amazing. However, at $200pp and/or and aggressive point structure it may make a lot of sense to get VGC. $20k for 100pts makes me feel queasy. Lol

Unless the new place is better than GCV by multiples, my money would be on more expensive. When new resorts open at Disney World, the direct sale price of the old ones rise to make the price of the new one seem more appealing. Resale follows direct to a good degree.

Things are a little special at DL because a large part of the appeal of Grand California is that it is the only resort at DL, but it is still a very nice place, so people will still want to stay there even with other offerings.

DVC News shows 23 Dedicated 2BRs, 23 lockoff 2BRs, and 2 GVs. So only 23 studios as long as no one books a 2BR lockoff.

I hope this is true as well, I'll definitely buy at the new place. We've been going to DLR the last couple of years and a small contract that will get us 4 nights in Jan would be great.

So 125 units vs 48, three times as big. This resort will have direct access to the monorail, I can see it having a lot of appeal. It will have crazy both purchase price and points per night for sure.

Well, direct access to the monorail? I assume they would use the DD entrance. The DL monorail is not all THAT reliable.... closes often. When it it too hot, for example, during the fireworks, and other random closures. But the walk never bothered me. They would have their own security entrance, onto DD, I assume. Views would be the tail end of DD, and lots of standard views, lol.

I don't know that it will have much of an affect on VGC. If this is a tower though it could have some pretty good firework and park views. Of course they don't do fireworks as often but when they did it could be great.

Yeah the more I think about it, the more a fixed week sounds amazing! How long before opening did they start selling in the past?
