Disney announced a new 700 room hotel which will replace much of the current Downtown Disney and serve as the new gateway to the overall Disneyland Resort. It will connect to the other three existing resorts and have its own dedicated monorail stop inside the hotel.

The blog post doesn't mention DVC, however Disney Tourist Blog has reported that it will have 125 DVC units on the Paradise Pier side of the hotel.

Glad to hear it will have DVC, hope that’s true! But I hope they’re wrong about them being on the Paradise Pier side of the resort...

Really surprised at the placement. Thought it would be north of that. I wonder if the Rainforest will be closing or relocating?

As of now, the current Rainforest Cafe, AMC theater, Earl of Sandwich, and Starbucks will be going away. There’s the possibility some of those establishments will be relocated, possibly even within the new hotel.

In the photo you can see that the existing DVC parking lot gets shrunken a bit. Currently the Grand Californian DVC dues help pay for the taxes and maintenance of that space. With that being taken away, a having less spaces available, will owners be reimbursed or pay less in dues, that's the real question.

I'd guess maintenance costs are based on the estimated number of cars parked with DVC or else an estimate of 2 per unit. Even if it is moved it should still be the same sort of allocation. It wouldn't matter if it's that lot or some other location.

Looking at the photo, there are 2 smaller buildings next to Paradise Pier that could be the DVC complex. There definitely won't be a view of the Park, bus could possibly be pool or garden view units.

Owners will pay extra now, since the fewer spots are more valuable. (;))

It'll most likely be a new building, wherever it is.

Yes, they are ALL new buildings. However in the rendering of the new property. 2 of the buildings seem to be off to themselves a bit.

Oh, I see, thanks. I misunderstood somewhere.

Giving DVC the worst location and views makes sense, IMHO....Because they'll sell anyhow, whereas the hotel rooms have to be constantly marketed and sold.

The new hotel is so close to the Disneyland Hotel, one particular building seems like it will be right in front of the Adventure tower. I wonder if they have any plan to rebuild DLH after the new hotel opens.
