New Disney Visa Offer ($200 g/c)

Wow, I wonder how many different ways we could expand on this logic. How about this for starters: next time you go to the grocery store stick a case of beer on the bottom rack of the cart and don't say anything when you go to the register. If the cashier doesn't notice just walk out. If they're dumb enough not to look under the cart why not take advantage of them?

We could probably start an entire thread just on ways to rip off companies by using dodgy methods to get around their policies and take advantage of their stupidity :thumbsup2

Just out of curiousity what will you do if in 6 months or so Chase sends you a letter stating that you applied for multiple gift cards in violation of the terms stated on the offer and they want their money back, plus interest, or they will cancel your cards, demand immediate payment of any outstanding balances and ruin your credit rating? Do you think your claim that they were "dumb enough to send you multiple offers" would hold up in a civil court case?

But wouldn't Chase have to then defend themselves as well? They gave another card to the same person...same ss#? So they had to have known it was not a new customer? I would think if it was a violation, it would be denied from the get-go.

Not saying it is right to take advantage of multiple offers, just curious how/why Chase could approve it in the first place if the ss# is on record.

I think it is ok for 1 offer for dh, one for wife...they are separate customers, two different people. But then filing jointly, using same ss# each, then that joint record would show those as already customers?

I would love one of these offers! We keep getting a different Chase offer for $200 cash back but I know my dh...that money would be long gone before our trip. Come on Chase!!! Send me the Disney one, pretty please!!! :)

You can guarantee that they have an army of lawyers who have written their offer in a way that is going to lay the blame on you, even if a clerical error on their part lets you get by the screeners. Would you want to take them and all of their resources on, especially given the scenario of the poster I originally replied to?

You are correct, it is ok for you and dh to apply separately and each get gift cards. What would be the point of a joint account other than a way to work around their terms and get 200 dollars you aren't entitled to?

for those that already have this...how long after your first purchase did it take to get the $200 gift card in the mail? did you have to call and ask for it? just hoping mine gets here in time to help pay off our upcoming trip!:thumbsup2

We got ours about 1.5 weeks after the first purchase.

They mailed my wife her card in a very plain looking envelope that said "Rewards Center" on it, nothing at all to indicate it was from Chase or Disney. When I spoke to her (she's in England visiting family) I told her she received some junk mail or maybe a rebate check. She asked me to open it and the gift card was in it. It's a regular Disney gift card, not reward dollars. Didn't take long at all.

Right, but I guess the question is does Chase look at that joint couple as a unique customer. A is a unique customer; B is a unique customer; AB is also a unique customer? I'm not debating the why someone would do it, that's their decision and not for me to judge, just wondering why it is approved when it is such an easy marker to identify. We only have one ss#.

The issue is moot w/ me. I'm single and have my credit frozen (for now), so I don't get offers nor will be applying for any! I was just honestly curious why/how Chase would give more than one of these offers/card to a ss#...if they have your ss# on record then you're not a new customer. Seems easy enough for them to handle that sort of data.

It wouldn't matter since A and B both received gift cards when they applied separately and the terms plainly state that the offer is for first time cardmembers only. So although AB could be a unique customer AB would be disqualified from receiving a gift if either A or B had received one previously.

Just have to put my two cents in regarding applying for a "joint" account, since I brought it up.

I have read here on the DISboards that couples have been able to apply & recieve a bonus for applying as a couple after each spous has one. I have also read the reverse. A wife/husband applying for & recieving the bonus after already being on a joint account.

I am single, only have one account and I applied for the card "Day 1" so all I got was a trading pin when I applied. I have never gotten a bonus offer to sign up for an account and even if I did I would NOT apply beause I do not have a need for a new credit card.

I'm sure that's true. I've also read that people have made it through the WDW turnstiles using leftover days from passes that other people purchased, or that people have been able to park at a resort and get into the parks without having to pay the parking fee. Just because they get away with it doesn't mean that they aren't ripping off Disney, and if there is a thread on working around Disney policies the mods either lock or delete it. Do you think the mods would buy the excuse that if the CMs are dumb enough to not check the tickets properly it's ok to use them?

Just like Disney has terms and conditions so do credit card issuers and finding ways to work around those rules to get things you don't qualify for isn't any different.

When I applied for my card I got a backpack. My wife got a $200 gift card. That's just how it goes.

Chase will absolutely know if you apply for a card and already have one. No question. Everything on your application is based on your ss #, your name and your address. If they enter your info in their system, they will see any accounts you already have open (on any kind of Chase product) and any accounts on which you're an authorized user. If they opt to give you a second card, they are fully aware of what they are doing and they will not come after you later to demand their gift card back. That's ridiculous.

No one is doing anything unethical by attempting to open a second (or third or fourth, for that matter) credit card account. It is up to Chase whether to enforce the restrictions or allow the additional account to be opened. Chase makes the decision with full awareness.

I couldn't agree more! The money (gift card)all goes back to Disney anyway...I think they know what they are doing!!

GEEZ!! Judge much????
What difference does this really make to you? why are you so concerned about what the op is doing? That is between them and Chase, and it isn't any of our business!!!

I do not understand why some people feel the need to get in the middle of other people's personal business??? :confused3 :headache:

Wow, that's pretty neat! I only have the letter where it states that the offer is for first time cardmembers only (which I'll be happy to post a screenshot of if you like). I haven't seen the policy where it says it's for first time cardmembers unless you feel like applying multiple times then we'll decide if it's ethical or not. Could you post a link to that Chase policy so I could read it?

So why do they pull threads where people want to figure out ways to get around Disney policies? After all it's between Disney and the posters, right? Or is it only okay to rip off credit card companies?

When people's personal business is posted on a board it's no longer their personal business. You want to apply for 3 or 4 offers when it clearly states that it's for 1 and you don't want to get criticized for it then don't brag about it in public. How hard is that to understand?
