New Disney Theme Park reservation system

From the information I got from my friend who went through the training, you will not be able to move forward with a guest who does not have a ticket Or is not on the reservation.

The first step is to choose guests so if you try, it will give you a message...

Well...that is what happened in Training.
But Disney thinks (according to some of the received emails) they do have tickets. I don’t know if there is some sort of verification however.

Honestly, I think the emails went based on reservation and someone didn’t think about it,

The system for the actual reservations is based on tickets...again, from what I understand that the link will only work for people with reservations.

But, once you get in, you can only book with people with tickets...as you choose them first.

In 9 hours, we will see for sure.

Sounds a little like ROTR Boarding Group process (anybody remember when THAT was the biggest worry we all had?)... First select your party. If any member of the party is not "in the park" (i.e., have tickets linked in MDE), you can't continue with making the reservation.

So here's something new - doing a chat with a CM and since we have mixed tickets in our group 2 APs and 6 Armed Forces Salute tickets we will have to book them separately. We can all book tomorrow but cannot group everyone like we do for FPs - we will have to do the military tickets in one group and then the APs in another.

This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

Here is a snippet of the conversation we had:

Me: And just to clarify we have 2 people with APs and 6 with the Military Appreciation tickets so you are say I would need to do these separately even though we are on the same reservations?

CM: Correct! Since there are different types of tickets, you will need to book park reservations for Annual Passes separately from those with Military Appreciation tickets. I understand that it may sound weird, however, that is how the new park reservation system will work.

Not what I was told tonight by someone who did the training and one of the agents in her office practiced with APs and multi-day Tickets

Of course, we will see tomorrow but it worked for them during training wiht mixed ticket types.

I totally agree, I've heard from multiple people it should be just like doing FPs so hopefully your information is better than mine.

I shouldn't be surprised with all the misinformation - been a DVC member for 22 years and it always seems to be this way.

I agree we will see in the morning!

Seems like it should work as long as everyone in your party has some type of valid admission media (ticket of any type, AP, etc.) linked in MDE, but we'll see.

This may have been discussed earlier in the thread, but what is everyone's strategy? Are you going in order or certain parks first? I just found out about this today so I'm feeling a little overwhelmed and underprepared.

We decided on our top choice park...I will grab that first...if not, then will chose whatever, confirm it, and then try the next day for first choice...hoping that we get it once out of the 6 days.

Made a spreadsheet on priorities so we get a mix of parks and then infill from There. Expecting magic and Hollywood to fill up first. Epcot last.

What’s everyone’s honest opinion on how fast the parks reservations will been gone the first week? We will be there and am so nervous I won’t get a reservation for any of my days. 😞

Personally, I think there will be more room than people think. Just looking at the numbers
ParkCapacity30% capacity# of 4 person groups at 30% Capacity# of ppl on average day
Magic Kingdom90,00027,0006,75057,000
Epcot110,00033,0008,25034,000
Hollywood Studios60,00018,0004,50031,000
Animal Kingdom60,00018,0004,50038,000

So that means there are normally on an average day 160,000 ppl in all the parks combined (mind you those numbers may include people who are park hopping) and with 30% capacity they can have 96,000 people in all the parks combined. That means its only 40% less than on an average day. Mind you, this doesn't account for high volume vs low volume times but still, right now I am guessing even if they opened it up to everyone who wanted to go, you would see a smaller volume than the average. So I think that people with tickets and hotels will probably all get their park options, and most people booking in the next several days will still be able to get into at least one park on most days they are there. Again, I am just looking at numbers and guessing, but hopefully this helps some people out.

I pulled these numbers off the internet in case anyone is curious.
