New Disney Ships: News, Rumors, Speculation.....and Names!

The Wish was impacted by the pandemic so I'm hoping the Treasure has a smoother start. I was originally critical of DCL's shift to IP heavy ships (compared to the Magic, Wonder, Dream, Fantasy) but it's slowly growing on me.

I went into the Wish with no expectations based on other reviews. But I loved the IP around the ships after day one. (Day one I wanted my nautical theme back.)

The IP infusion on the Wish really isn't that in your face as some people make it out to be.

The Bayou, Nightingale, the Rose, Enchante & Palo were all tastefully done and just lightly inspired by princess motifs, it's not like they have the princesses face plastered on the walls. The only obvious IP was Hyperspace lounge, but if anything the real issue with Hyperspace Lounge is that it wasn't Star Wars enough - it would have been better if it went all out Star Wars rather than the middle ground of a smaller Space 220.

And even when its IP in your face, is Enchanted Garden really more interesting than Arendelle (unless you just don't like dinner shows)? And whilst I prefer Animator's Palate over World of Marvel, Animator's is still based on IP, it's just the IP I prefer.

Although the Wish class doesn't have the natutical theme anymore, there are already 4 ships using it, there is no need to repeat. I'm glad the theme & atrium across the Wish class are all different so it makes for more interesting variety in different sailings.

Funnily enough I didn’t like Arendelle. I thought the singer couldn’t sing. If it has been just a band with no singer I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

On Disney sailings that’s often our “family getting together to recap our day” time. We can’t see ourselves sailing any of the Wish class ships more than once a year for a few days at a time. We have Destiny booked but not Treasure because the 7 day commitment seems like a lot. The other downside of Wish is that it appears to be difficult to get a private table and all the tables are close together.

On the Wish, they made the dining rooms too small for the number of guests (and the tables too close together).

Same— we’ve done 9 sailings, all 7 but the Wish we’ve had private tables, both Wish sailings grouped with someone else.

You dont talk to your family at breakfast, lunch, waiting in lines, by the pool, at the lounges, in your staterooms, waiting for shows to start?

I find the whole line of argument very weird. What are people doing on the ships if their only time to talk is at dinner? And how come no one complains about this in regards to animators plate?

Someone asked if people would fly East Coast to West Coast for a Disney cruise (this happens all the time every summer for Alaska cruises) and my family, despite living within an hour of Disneyland, flys 5 hours to MCO/FLL once or twice a year to do DCL sailings to the private islands. If this ship is truly unique, I think it will get a lot of Disney fans world wide who want to tack on 3 days to a visit to Tokyo or HK or Shanghai.

I think it’s possible that they may need to occasionally have more aggressive discounts on the standard cabins, but I don’t think they will have any trouble filling the high end suites (I hope I’m wrong though because I would love to have the chance to upgrade cheaply).

Cos thats for alaska. The singapore ship aint stopping at anywhere nice like that. Or anywhere at all.

On a Disney cruise, it’s not uncommon for one of us to be at the spa, while another is doing sports and another is at kids club, etc. Sure, we are together for lunch most days but then we split off again…we don’t do that many shows and if we do it’s rare that we arrive more than a few minutes early. I’m not trashing the Wish or the concept of dinner theater— I just think the Rapunzel/Tiana restaurants do a better balance of entertainment (and noise) with dining that’s conducive towards connecting with my family.

Have you been on a Disney cruise? Especially on a ship like wish there is a lot for people to do all day. We actually spend a few hours together most days playing trivia, but it’s not an activity where we are chatting a lot.

Singapore itself is one of the nicest cities in the world, I would say it’s a much better port than anything on the sailings out of Galveston or Orlando (with the possible exception of Castaway Cay for Disney beach bums)—and the ship itself is the destination— much nicer than Cozumel and Nassau. When you cruise Alaska you are spending a couple days at sea and 4-5 days at port. You can recreate that ratio with a stay in Singapore and a sailing on the Adventure if you want.

We did get a private table (we are 3 people) but we were on a September sailings which is the lowest occupancy. The tables were way too close together on the Wish, and I cannot see how they are going to fix this on the Treasure unless they always sail at less than 90% occupancy.

Actually, I talk all day! Which would not surprise many of you.

I don’t always do the same activities as others in my family.

And I make up stories about guests at other tables, for entertainment - not ugly critiques.

And I don’t enjoy no interaction - especially during long breaks between courses.

Animator’s is so much fun! It’s worth paying attention, being the B&W > color venues or Nemo. But it doesn’t seem so loud.

We all have our own preferences.

Can anyone share exactly how loud the shows are at dinner on the Wish? My son wears noise cancelling headphones at movies, theaters, sporting events, and most Disney rides. Is he going to need them at dinner? He's going to be very anxious if it's too loud, or can we request a table as far from the noise as possible? He was fine at all dinners on the Dream.

The Dream doesn't have dinner shows in the same way as the Wish (and the Magic/Wonder). It certainly wouldn't hurt to bring noise cancelling headphones to Worlds of Marvel and Arendelle, in case they are loud during the shows. I haven't been on the Wish, so I don't know which venue is noisier. I'm sure some of those who have will share their thoughts. You can then request a table far away from the action in that dining room. Because tables are in different places in each venue, you may not be able to avoid the noise in both.

The Marvel show was pretty loud from what I remember, especially if you are right by one of the screens. The Arendelle show wasn't real bad from what I recall. Both have an element of 'the closer the characters are to you, the louder it will be'. As someone who has in recent years become very sound sensitive, earplugs at the least would have been great.

I felt the exact opposite. I found Arendelle so loud through most of dinner. I didn’t find WOM too bad since most of it is just clips from the movie and the soundtrack playing in the background.

I would say that Arendelle can feel like you’re at a musical at WDT and WoMarvel can feel like you are at the movies — my kid who hates fireworks (and loud Disney rides) tolerates both fine, but she is OK with the theater shows and seeing things like Inside Out 2 at the movies— if you aren’t sure, I’d bring headphones just in case.

I mich prefer the concept art. I loved that they dared to go dark. It looked so exotic. I also loved the blue and greens and find the rusty pattern on the carpet not attractive at all.

The concept art reminded me of the Adventureland room at Walt’s at DLP. This now looks like a few ornate elements thrown onto the standard design. The only improvement is the chandelier. Really like that!
