I just read this from another source........has anyone else heard about this new cruise, specifically, how many points it will cost us?

"After months of speculation, the Disney Cruise Line announced today that the Disney Magic will head to the Mediterranean for the summer of 2007! The Disney Magic will leave its home at Port Canaveral in Florida on May 12, 2007, to reposition itself for a summer in Europe. The 14-night repositioning cruise will include stops at the Canary Islands, Gibraltar, Barcelona and Disney's own Castaway Cay prior to arriving at the Magic's port in Barcelona, Spain. Beginning on May 26, the Magic will alternate 10- and 11- night cruises visiting such destinations as Barcelona, Rome (Civitavecchia), Naples (Pompeii), Palermo (Sicily), Italy (Rome), Florence/Pisa (La Spezia) and the French Riviera, including Marseilles. On August 18, the Magic will once again set sail across the Atlantic, stopping at Barcelona, Cadiz and Tenerife, before returning to Port Canaveral, ending its European journey on September 1. I'm sure it would be really nice but I don't know if I would want to be at sea that long. However, I would love to see all of those locations! :thumbsup2

We did the two week Panama Canal repositioning cruise last May. It was great fun. I would not want to go longer than two weeks and the 10/11 night cruises sound ideal.

DH and I would love to do this. For about 3 years we have wanted to do a Med cruise. Next summer will not be good timing but I hope it's a success and they will run it again.

I think you can do much better on price and ports with other cruise lines. Disney is doing a "round trip" to and from the same port which REALLY limits where they can go. Plus they are charging a premium. I love DCL, but this one just doesn't do it. It's one think for the Caribbean when the "cruise" is a big part of the attraction. But with the med the ports should be the attraction.

These seem to be excellent ports for those with older children. Our kids are 7,5, and 4. They love the beaches. We would never get the chance to gamble in Monte Carlo, and they would be bored at beautiful and historic landmarks such as the Sistine Chapel or the Colosseum. I was initially excited at the new itineraries, but after thinking it over I realized that it would not make sense for us at this stage in our children's development. If this is offered in 7 years, it would probably be a wonderful cruise for us. For now, we'll stick to the Caribbean.
