Does PayPal typically run these types of promotions? This is my first time ever seeing these?

They do from time to time. I really don't use paypal until something like this pops up or it is a Chase Freedom 5% category.

When I went to giftcards.com I added the Disney gift cards to my account but when I went into the cart to pay the offer did not show up in the order summary area to select and when I pasted the EARLYBIRD from the offer into the promo code section it just spun.

Did it a couple of times including once with only a $100 card and it never worked. Just kept spinning. Wonder if there was a limit and it knows I already used the promo before?

Update - I tried on a different browser without logging in at all and same issue. I tried a different card with the same promo and same issue. I'll give it some time. Hopefully it will still be available.

In the meantime, if anyone knows the answer to my paypal question above and can let me know what the dollar limit is on the 5% offer with a max of 2,000 points I would appreciate it. $40,000 seems high but I'm not that familiar with paypal points. If 2,000 points translates to $20 cash back, does that mean the limit in dollars purchased is $400?

My Rakuten shows 0 points activity for my gift card purchase yesterday but it does show pending points for a separate Disney Store merch purchase made yesterday. So, can more or less confirm GC's are excluded.

Thanks. Just so I understand going forward. a $400 purchase gets me 2,000 points on a 5% offer which results in $20 cash back? So a 10% offer would get me 4,000 points on a $400 purchase and a $40 cash back? I've never used paypal rewards before so I wasn't clear how they calculate points.

Can’t use on gift cards. But if you have other target orders check Cash App. I had a 20% off up to $20 offer.

It won’t let you use Cash App pay for it if it has a gift card in it. It’s using the Cash App pay and not the card with the offer. I have used before when it was for a card purchase . This one was only for the app pay thing.

Seems that way. It doesn't show on their sale page any more. Looks like the other random one I tested is also gone, so looks like I just picked another that expired before they removed it and that is why I had issues with both. Oh well. That lasted shorter than last time. Maybe it will come back again.

That's what my pending points look like for the $500 GC that I bought. Basically, it's not happening.
I just tried to buy something unrelated with an offer for 4 payments through ShopPay. It said I couldn't do it because my credit is frozen. So, that's potentially why I couldn't get the 4 payments on PayPal. It just spun and never went through.

That’s what it did the other day when it was sold out. I just tried too, same thing happened with the spinning. Waited a few minutes, tried again. That time, there wasn’t even an option to add to cart, just showed a picture of the card, no amounts. So I’m pretty sure it’s just sold out again.

After all the recent good offers, I'm sitting out on PayPal. The FOMO is strong, but I need to keep telling myself that I've got enough to pay upcoming DVC dues, meals for our December trip, and our cruise next Fall is paid in full. We're also not renewing our APs as we're out of DVC points until 2026... Feels so weird to not need more discounted DGCs!!!

I'm very low on points for 25 and 26, but was doing the math on buying a Sorcerer Pass with 2026's MMB offer and saving it for a year to activate. Meanwhile I have an Incredipass activated from an old (2015) pass I had in my MDE. Don't want to renew that as I don't have enough DVC points to book enough trips! Meanwhile I have more old tickets I can use but they can't be upgraded.

So, buy MMB for 2026, purchase the pass in late 2026 and activate in late 2027. I really have to write that in my notes so I'll remember the plan. Oh and use the other old days pass for late 2026 and early 2027 trips.

I need a few more gift cards for my dues but I'm not messing with the paypal thing.

Best Buy did an offer last year closer to Xmas, like the week before. I'm hoping this $100/$10 offer isn't a replacement.

I bought yesterday and it showed 500 points pending yesterday. Today, it shows zero points pending and I have zero points.
