If I have a Target order I’m going to place to try and earn Target circle bonus. Will using Target circle rewards to pay for said order effect getting the bonus I’m going for?

Are you sure about that? I thought the purchase amount that went toward earning your reward was after all discounts and reward credits were deducted. I am always afraid to use previous bonus rewards or Target gift cards toward payment of my purchase for fear they would result in making my purchase less than required spend for the new bonus reward.

At what point do you stop hoarding DGCs? I'm probably paid up through 2027 with what I have accumulated and thinking I can stop chasing all the offers to maximize savings because right now, these cards are sitting in a drawer doing nothing, meanwhile my life savings are draining away. What's the magic % that makes it worth it to you to keep chasing?

I only buy DGC when I know I can use them. Last year, I accumulated many of them for three annual passes and park tickets. Now I am buying them with these deals to cover the cost of the dining plan for our May trip (we are going to lots of character buffets for part of this trip, so DP for these days is worth it.) After this, I will start accumulating gift cards to cover my DVC dues for next year. Then I stop if I have nothing planned ahead.

However, there will always be something planned ahead, so I might use the fund for DVC dues toward another trip and then start accumulating again.

I believe that gift cards count as spending towards the bonus but not circle rewards which actually count as a coupon (which is why when paying with rewards there is no sales tax but when paying with gift cards there are).

Hmm. Here's an example: I had 3x purchases of $130 to earn $40 in rewards. I already had $30+ in rewards in my account. I went to the store yesterday and did my 3 purchases back-to-back. The first, I had 3 items that totaled $30.6 plus a $100 DGC. Here's the receipt:

As you can see, I used my rewards to cover the merch part of the order. The $95 for the GC was paid for with my Circle credit card. This counted toward my bonus. I did my other two transactions, another of which also used rewards as part of the payment. I got notification that I got the $40 rewards before I finished putting stuff back in my cart and I see it in my account.

So now I'm wondering, does this just not work for everyone? Or am I getting mixed up about what you mean by rewards, maybe?

I think it's the subtotal that counts toward earning rewards. See my previous message above.

I thought it was closer to 2-3% normally at Sams, but dont pay too much attention. We usually wait for a retailer to drop 10% off but looks like its not happening anytime soon unfortunately! At least we can stack a good cash back card at Sams vs. using the RedCard at Target so that helps!

BJ’s is normally 2-3%. Sam’s is normally 5%, occasionally 7.5%, and on brief and very rare occasions 10%.

I never actually tried it - I just always assumed that since rewards were a coupon (which is why you don't pay tax when using them) they would not count towards the bonus spend, but obviously your DP shows that it does.

I guess we all know the famous expression "It is dangerous to assume because you might make an..."

I use the circle rewards “coupon” to purchase items that come with target gift cards then turn around and use the target gift cards to get totals for the circle rewards.

Finding out that Disney gift cards trigger the circle rewards was huge for me this year.

It makes those offers better and better.

Yes, this always worked for me as well. I usually buy them online and have them (other than the DGCs) shipped to me though, so it would not show that I completed this until all items are shipped. The waiting period always made me double if this worked, but I believe it did every time. Most of the times I will just buy only DGCs to complete these bonuses so that I don't have to wait for the rewards, and then use the rewards to buy other items that I need.
