Well, it’s been an interesting experiment!
Paid for the last of the our Disney stay yesterday at a savings of approximately $748.00. Mostly purchased gcs via Targets and Bjs because I haven’t the dedication to pursue other more convoluted sites and methods.
Sorry that you can’t use gift cards to buy discounted Underground Tourist park tkts but understanding.
Have almost 1K in defaced/overscratched Disney cards that I’ll get replaced/refunded at my hotel; getting to a
Disney store is onerous for me. Will hold back some funds to use at restaurants on site and possibly take in Cirque du Soleil. Could have used all the cards for food but my biggest savings is taking advantage of the kitchen in the DVC rental.
From recent past stays I’ve found it to cost about $100.00 per person per day for food; providing my own food drops the cost down to ~ $24.00, a savings
far better than the hotel stay. Since there will be four holidays to celebrate during our stay, we’ll do one restaurant meal on CE and another probably on NY’s Day.
Should I visit WDW another time I’ll rent DVC only from owners (1 week from an owner, 1 week from WDW, this trip) and stay the course with using the kitchen to it’s full potential. This stay, I utilized TNT camping techniques since it allowed me to cook ahead on my own time then vacuum seal and freeze foods. Another time, I could just make up menus in advance and order food from local supermarkets.
So thanks for teaching me new budget tricks and enjoy your next Disney stay.
