Someone in my office mentioned something about a new disney entertainment district for adults at the walt disney world resort...has anyone else heard that?

i didnt hear that before and i cant imagine that would make sense considering pleasure island just closed but who knows.

Sorry but I do not have an answer to your question but thought the latter may be of interest to the viewers/responders to this thread in general...

I have been trying to follow the news/rumors in relation to what may/will become of the former PI but with so many out there and disney not releasing much official information it is difficult to do. I have been monitoring this link which seems to have the most frequent updates and/or announcements. About a third of the way down on the page you will see the section titled "Downtown Disney & Pleasure Island News" which has some interesting information...

You can most likely chalk this one right up there with the boat captains, bus drivers and monorail pilots, but while I was at WDW this past Sun - Tues, I rode over to the SSR sales center to talk to my guide in one of the DVC vans and the driver was talking about just this concept - said that they are supposed to be building a new entertainment complex over near Coronado Springs that would be similar to the original concept of PI, but definitely night time only - not open during the day for shopping like PI used to be. I took it all with a grain of salt at that time, but since you have this posting, I thought I'd share what I heard. (But I won't suggest that it came from a reliable source...just hearsay really) ;)

I don't know if it was ever officially announced, or if it was never anything more than just a Jim Hill report. I think the venue your friend is talking about is Disney's Night Kingdom. The concept is an additional park that will open only for the evening hours and will be held to a very limited number of guests. (Sort of like the concept of Discovery Cove -- a high end park geared at a small number of guests who pay a whopping admission charge.)

Here's a link to the Jim Hill report I just found through Google... http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/archive/2008/02/15/night-kingdom-to-reimagine-the-disney-theme-park-going-experience.aspx

I haven't heard much about this lately. I don't know if the idea was canned or not.
