I’ve been reading and posting on this board for about a week now, but haven’t yet introduced myself to everyone. I’m Oscar, my wife is Jeanne, and we have two little princesses Lexi (5) & Emily (2). We’re taking our first family trip to WDW this Christmas, and we’re all very excited. Everybody has been incredibly nice here and the information I’ve already gotten has been priceless. Thanks to all for sharing your knowledge and I hope to get a chance to talk with more of you in the future, especially as our departure date approaches and the excitement level rises.

Welcome!! Disney around the holidays....it doesn't get much better than that. Do you have your dates picked out yet? If you will actually be there for Christmas prepare for the crowds.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. We arrive the 24th through the 28th, as crazy as it sounds, we will be at MK on the 25th. We know that it's going to be crazy but we have quite a few reasons to do it on that particular day. As a kid, I always wanted to be there on christmas day, but family traditions always prevented it. With the passing of my mom a few years ago, my wife's sister passing last year, and my sister being in a coma for 8 months now, Christmas promised to be very depressing at home. My daughters have never been to Disney (eventhough we live 3 hours away) and I wanted to make their first visit something special. What better way than to spend the most magical day of the year in the most magical place on earth. We also have reservations for Christmas morning at the Castle for breakfast with Cinderelli. We're planning two days at MK since we know the crowds on the 25th will prevent us from doing a lot of the attractions.

Wow, that sounds magical! Breakfast on Christmas morning in the Castle...amazing! You will have a wonderful time! You have two very lucky princesses!

I have to give my wife credit for the castle, that was all her. Going on Christmas was my idea, everything else has been supermom's doing. Heck, I didn't even know that you could eat in the castle.

You are going to have such a magical trip!! And a Disney Dad, it just doesn't get any better than that!! Your family is very lucky that you are involved in the "dis" love. My ex just didn't get it, and well he is now the ex. Enough said :rotfl2: Have a magical first trip!!

Isn't Disney fun with little ones?
Hope you are off to a great day!

Technically, wife and I aren't first timers, we've been to all the parks numerous times (we grew up in Miami, now live in West Palm Beach, I lived in Melbourne & she lived in Orlando for a while - I actually was one of the architects -intern- for the Dueling Dragons castle @ IOA), but it is our first time as 'responsible' parents. My excitement level is all about my girls, mainly the oldest who's gone through two hip surgeries, the loss of a grandmother, and two aunts, (wife's sister died last year, mine's in a coma). She also was diagnoses mildly autistic, but has worked so hard in Pre-K that they were able to remove that label from her file. We are very proud of her and want to give her the world, Disney World.

BenA81 - you beat me to the punch, I was just about to ask if oXar had checked into it. Please do.
oXar, your children are at a great age to take. One of my great joys is that my DS(15) still enjoys the magic - and is proud of it. DD(9) feels right at home at the parks. We take them every other year and have been since each was 2. I relive much through their eyes. Of course they are now getting to ages where they are actually mentally older than I am when I'm at the parks.

WELCOME! Sounds like you truely deserve this vacation! We'll be going to WDW November 11-15 to see the Christmas decorations, but it'd be so cool to actually go on Christmas! Have FUN!

thanks for the DisDad's link, and all the nice words. We do deserve a vacation, but we're just one family in millions that have face rough patches, unfortunately, our rough patch started shortly after the first one was born, and though it technically hasn't ended yet, we feel that the worst is behind us and it's time to move forward with our lives. An expirement in the power of positive thinking.
