Well, Disney has never had a cruise ship anywhere in Asia. But, the new ship probably won't have a casino.Wait, Disney cruises don't have gambling? Even in Asia?

I'm not sure. The press release really emphasized "fly and cruise" guests and all of the extra tourism that Singapore expects to come from this agreement. Maybe they mean tourists from nearby countries rather than from the US and Europe, though.Hopefully Disney will offer some longer sailings there to attract overseas visitors, although I don't think we'll be their target.
Only thing Disney Cruise Line has is Bingo.Wait, Disney cruises don't have gambling? Even in Asia?
Let's hope it's not short cruises like Australia.Singapore is on my bucket list. Depending on the itineraries, this is a port I would absolutely consider sailing from.
I looked up Spectrum of the Seas and... eh? There are two Singapore -> Tokyo cruises and two Tokyo -> Singapore cruises. There isn't much overlap, so doing a back-to-back round trip might be nice. You'd get 11 port days and I guess the other half are at sea. I'm not sure that it's worth it. Better to just take a cruise from Tokyo an another line, I think. Then again, I really do prefer Disney. Meh.Royal Caribbean has had Spectrum of the Seas based in Singapore and I'd bet that Disney's itineraries look pretty similar to it (similar target market, etc.). The vast majority are 3-5 night sailings to Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, with a sprinkling of longer itineraries (including 12-night one-way sailings to/from Tokyo), and they've been selling very well (I see many categories sold out for upcoming sailings). The Japan ones aren't quite as many at-sea days as I expected--seems to be 5 at-sea days on a 12-night itinerary.
Or lacking in ports like the Polynesia repos.Let's hope it's not short cruises like Australia.
To where? Bermuda is too cold for most of the year. The Caribbean is pretty far away. I guess they could have 7-night cruises that stop in one or two places, but that's a lot of days at sea.Absolutely no interest. Not to harp on thisbut I'm really waiting for a Disney cruise out of NYC for 6-7 months a year.
My guess is these will be marketed toward the Asian market, not Americans. I wouldn't be surprised if they put a casino onboard if that's what the market requires.Celebrity is also sailing from Singapore. They have mostly 11- to 13-night cruises. Most of them are one-way, though. They go to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bali, Bombay, and Sydney.
So, if Disney is willing to sail a bunch of longer, one-way cruises, then they'll have more options. That hasn't been their pattern so far, though.
You're right and the design already had a casino. My guess is these will be marketed toward the Asian market, not Americans. I wouldn't be surprised if they put a casino onboard if that's what the market requires.
There's not just Bermuda. Other markets go out of NY all the time to the Caribbean. There are also Canadian foliage cruises, the Bahamas, Transatlantic, and even one-way cruises are possible. To where? Bermuda is too cold for most of the year. The Caribbean is pretty far away. But other cruises have longer itineraries. Disney likes to keep them shorter. I guess you could do a 7-night to the Bahamas. My first Disney Cruise was basically that, but it was an 8-night with a Port Canaveral (Disney World) day after Castaway Cay.But other cruises have longer itineraries. Interesting in that they say the eighth and largest ship. So will Triton 3 be sailing before the mega ship do we think? I can’t see how that would be possible.here is an article that has some more info, it looks like the casino is being removed. It will prob be the kids club area as that's how it is on the current ships. .
