Our 6-yr. old Kenmore built-in dishwasher has a part broken that will cost almost as much as a new dishwasher, so we need to buy a new one. :( the one we have is black, so I don't need to have a stainless one...

Looking for recommendations under $500, preferably an Energy Star model, so we can advantage of a State rebate program.

Please tell me your recommendation & it's ever needed service. Which brands offer the best warranty?

Thanks! I appreciate your feedback!

Don't forget to check with your local utility company also for rebates. Our electric company offers $30 in addition to the state rebate.

Be sure to check and make sure your dishwasher is not on the Maytag recall notice. I have a Whirlpool and it is on the list (obviously made by Maytag). Anyway, they also sent me a form to get a $150 or $250 rebate (depending on model). Combining that with the utility co. & state rebate and I will probably get a brand new one for less than $200.:thumbsup2

Personally, I'm tired of spending big $$$ on appliances that seem to break down in 5 years. I've started buying the absolute cheapest I can. They all seem to make it about 5 years, no matter how much you spend. I listened to my MIL and started buying more expensive appliances...they made it on average 5 years. So I'm done throwing that money away.:sad2:
