Hello All... I just signed up for DISboards today after using the site for the last year and a half trying to learn more about Disney from what I already knew through living close to Disneyland and having annual passes.

While on our first cruise, we signed up for DVC and have been welcomed home a few times now as we have added on points finding the value in membership. We call both Aulani and Saratoga Springs home

We've taken two cruises now since last year and have taken two DVC trips now, once to Animal Kingdom Lodge and another with a large group of friends to Aulani...

One of the biggest things we've learned so far are that the DVC promotions in Orlando far exceed what we get out here in California. Anyone know of other ways to save money on admission to WDW parks? I can't really stomach spending $849 for a Premiere Pass to both Disneyland/California Adventure and the parks at WDW.

What else is out there for me to explore? Any tips or messages to show me what I'm missing out on would greatly be appreciated.

Figure out what your plans for the year are. Work out what tickets you will need. And find the best way of getting that admission.

It might be that the Premier pass is the best.

Or maybe you want an AP for one park, but just tickets for the other; maybe that will work better.

Although the main discounter on DL tickets is disneyland.com itself (cheaper than buying at the gate), with WDW there are others. mapleleaftickets is one of them, but the one I've used more (albeit just once for WDW and once for Universal if I recall correctly) is undercovertourist.com. disneyworld.com doesn't discount tickets vs buying them at the gate, but discounters like those mentioned do have discounts.

So if your total works out better buying WDW tickets at a discount, and having a DLR AP (or just tickets), then that's the best for your plans.

Make sure you check out the benefits the WDW AP gives you; WDW doesn't have anywhere near the dining discounts that DLR does by just using the AP. But you can buy the Tables In Wonderland discount card (tablesinwonderland.com) as an AP holder and/or as a DVC member, which then gives you discounts on most table service restaurants and some counter service.

Just look at all the benefits and the costs, and work out what works best for you for any given year's worth of vacations. :)

Welcome!

I feel the same as you do about ticket prices...but in reverse! We can't get inexpensive Disneyland tickets! At least for now, at WDW you can buy multiple day tickets and pay extra for the no-expiration option. So you could go that route, lay out the cash now, but then be able to make several trips over the next couple years to WDW using those tickets and really stretch your dollars. We have WDW annual passes at the moment thanks to DVC's special promotion last fall, but have ten-day no-expire hoppers with the water park option we'll ration out when the AP's expire.

I WISH Disneyland offered no expiration tickets, because even though we live a bit closer to California than Florida, we so far only go to DL every other year or so. We end up usually going for only two days at a time, and have to pay a premium for the shorter-visit tickets.

The Disboards is truly a treasure...I can't quantify how much value it adds to this Disney nut, if for nothing else but to be able to either lurk or engage in thousands of conversations 24/7 about one of my happy places!
